Oooooh, lots to unpack here… let’s start with the Portland Of Sea Dogs Shirt and by the same token and basics. You say the “workforce” (corrections officers or police in general?) Is 90% white men. Do you think 90% of applicants are white men? No, the answer is that this IS racial discrimination. The motive doesn’t matter, they are literally “discriminating” against his application because of his race. Which is illegal. Is it discrimination? Absolutely! Is there anything you can do about it? Probably not. You can file a grievance, but buckle up for malicious compliance. I have worked in corrections, there are countless policies that are always violated, except when they want to get rid of someone. Something everyone has done for years, you will all of a sudden find yourself in front of the Warden with written reprimands, and terminations. It’s totally F-Ed up and their attempt at applying the laws so they don’t run afoul of discrimination laws is why some people claim that we shouldn’t have discrimination laws.

They should hire you. Laws that prevent discrimination are meant to protect minority groups in the Portland Of Sea Dogs Shirt and by the same token and instance where they are the better or equal candidate and/or the company/Corp has a history of not hiring diverse candidates. None of that applies here because they obviously did not get a even close to a candidate of color that fit their needs. All of race is a protected class, just like all of religion is a protected class. It’s illegal to discriminate against either white or Christian people, even though those are both still the majority of their respective classes in the nation. In the private firms when we were interviewing, my manager refused to look at resumes unless they sounded like they were a minority. One interview stream was done by me and 2 female engineers. We all came to the same conclusion on the candidates. The manager disagreed and took the candidate all 3 of us rated the worst. The manager picked her solely because she was female. He basically hired her to have more diversity and she sucked. The two females that were part of the interview stream complained about the new girls work and she was reassigned to basically do nothing and kept around so we could say we had a 50/50 feamle /male ratio. She was finally let go when one of the guys quit and it was decided we wouldnt hire to fill that position. She probably cost the company 3-500k over 2 years. I call it sexist and refused to interview anymore after that.
