This can become a real issue, esp if estate is not worth much (or worse has serious debts). Yyou have a claim but your claim comes last after the Big Lebowski John Goodman I Don’T Roll On Shabbos Shirt and by the same token and more “important” debtors. Banks etc get paid first. Worse if will left the car to someone (may not have mentioned it specifically, but he could still infer all assets are left to a certain relative / friend). When you talk to the family see if they will sell you the car and sign his name on the title and backdate the bill of sale. I would try and see if you can purchase the vehicle from the estate. Seeing as they’re most likely to sell it off anyway, and probably for less than you two agreed. Could be worth offering the final payment and close the deal.

Did you pay cash or write a cheque? If it was a cheque, he might not of cashed it yet. Maybe you can stop payment on the Big Lebowski John Goodman I Don’T Roll On Shabbos Shirt and by the same token and cheque through your bank Get in touch with the family, hope you have proof, otherwise they may see it in his bank. But, since he died, they likely still need to get rid of the vehicle. It just may take a bit longer as they sort things out. Come with a consolation gift as it will probably help make your point better and that you’re not trying to scam them Why not pay the family/next of kin the money for the car? You were going to buy it that day with the rest of the cash so why do you “really need” that money back? Why can’t you find out who next of kin is and still buy the vehicle for the agreed upon price? Family would benefit from cash in hand and one less thing to liquidate later. Plus you get your car.
