NAL but it would seem you’d probably have to make a claim against the Bêtlejuice Framed Photo Shirt so you should to go to store and get this estate. Hope you got something in writing. My suggestion- send a detailed letter to his address to make some contact with his family members. Indicate you are sorry to hear of his passing and give the details about the purchase of the car. Such as when you looked at the car and made the down-payment and that you have the balance to complete the purchase. This notifies his family without being pushy and they may know all about it. It is also possible the title is signed and he was just waiting for your payment. You could also enclose a copy of your receipt of the deposit and also include your phone number and contact details.

Bêtlejuice Framed Photo Shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

Contact the Bêtlejuice Framed Photo Shirt so you should to go to store and get this family, after the funeral (or at least a few of days after the death), to ask who is administering the estate. Offer condolences. If said napkin (or any other communication from the deceased) has the terms of the deal on it, it will be easier for the executor to complete the transaction (meaning you finishing paying and get the car). Typically, the more money a deceased person has the longer the probate process will take. It could be anywhere from a couple months to a couple years before you ever see anything (if you receive anything at all). During probate, all of the deceased’s assets need to be assessed and the creditors satisfied before heirs see anything. If the executor accepts the napkin as a valid debt you will be paid after secured creditors (mortgages, car loans, etc ). How much, if anything, you will receive will depend on how much is left. If the napkin is not accepted then your options are small claims court or hiring a lawyer. For $3000, a lawyer is probably too expensive but many lawyers offer free consolations and you are encouraged to do so. If you go to small claims court they will not help you collect the debt but they will issue a judgement which you can then take to the executor and become an creditor just as above. I’m not a lawyer but I have had experience with transactions pending while people have died. If I were you I would bring all the evidence to his family or heirs after an appropriate period of time (whatever that is)and just appeal to their human nature . Assuming their loved one was an honest person, hopefully they are too and would honor his memory accordingly. Hard lesson to learn man, always pay upfront when you are getting product. I’d never pay in advance for something, I always see whatever I’m buying then buy it right then and there if I want it.
