Many queens who know him have talked about how seriously he takes this kinda shit. Doing fun of it would have landed you straight in the Whoville Grinch Christmas shirt but in fact I love this bottom I think. Idk how funny they’d find a parody of an influencer would be Yeaaaa it’s hard to do modern humor on drag race. And the longer the show goes on the bigger that disconnect will get I think modern humor can work if done correctly which, at least according to recent talent show delights, involves bizarre random acts like willow pill or la grande dame Irenes number was never gonna be funny no matter the context, y’all need to get over it and stop acting like its some modern shit Ru cant understand Yeah like… it just wasn’t funny. Ppl act like she was robbed and would’ve won the whole season if it wasn’t for the first episode elim… pls Agreed, she didn’t have the delivery for something like that, and anyways it’s not great material for a skit because I don’t see any way you can stretch « water glass recipe » into a 2 minute skit that is funny, entertaining and doesn’t get tired after 15 seconds
Agreed. I laughed almost the Whoville Grinch Christmas shirt but in fact I love this entire time, and then laughed even harder at how completely disinterested the judges were. I would have busted on them so hard IRL for not getting the joke. I bet If she had done the same concept but didn’t narrate and up the physical comedy, she could have gotten safe. What gets laughs and applause in the club doesn’t mean it will translate the same on the show, i.e.: Trinity does the old lady bit in the clubs and it gets a lot of laugh but it flopped on the show. Megami’s “Protect queer art” bit gets a lot of applause in the club and it got ridiculed on the show. That message could def be better delivered in a club as well lol. Why is she even holding the sign? If you’re just standing there, get a banner and hold a microphone. Or a rose.

The queens need to go to an open mic night in the Whoville Grinch Christmas shirt but in fact I love this early evening to test out their skits, everything is funny at 2am when you’ve had 12 vodka sodas Also… as a potty mouth myself…. her episode made me horrifyingly aware of what I probably sound like to the people around me. Almost every time somebody talked to her, she said “fuck” or “shit.” It seemed like such a waste of airtime, just expressing vulgarity. I must waste so much quality conversation with that stuff. Well put. Also, Irene’s look for it didn’t make sense. Why is a 50s housewife with a 60s bouffant doing water glasses? Is it a take on hosting, and if so why not make that the joke? I found Irene’s talent show funny. I feel like if the editors wanted to, they could have made it look better than they did. Mayhem’s however she really fumbled…. It does make me believe the conspiracy theory that she wanted to be the first out. Anyone still saying Irene’s talent show was edited to be un-funny is delusional. Even Irene has said it was bad, and didn’t work for the format (she had done the performance before but over a much longer time frame) Same same but different. But the other queens paid it absolute dust, no way would they have rolled with it if it was safe & made to look better. Not the same at all. “Edited to be unfunny” implies it was actually funnier that they presented it and they intentionally made it worse, which they didn’t. (Other than cutting a few queens laughing, which apparently did happen a little, but doesn’t change how the actual performance was edited.) All they said is they could have manipulated it to be better than it was in the room.
Mayhems could have been amazing if she did one joke after the Whoville Grinch Christmas shirt but in fact I love this other. The water thing kind of was a slay for me tbh, I laughed. But if you want a master class in this, watch Paloma’s talent show in the first episode of drag race France season one La Veuve in drag Race Belgium did an amazing one. She read Rita Baga and the judges while playing a fortune teller. It was awesome She won for that, too, right?! My household (quebec) did not get 90% of that routine so we were definitely confused through and through. Learning that Mayhem throws away plates and buys new ones rather than washing dishes tells me everything I need to know about the maximum effort she’ll put into her talent show. she…throws away her dishes…how absolutely wasteful and embarrassing to even say it publicly – do you remember where she said this? she talks about this in the Kiki video she did with Trixie on trixie’s youtube channel. she also mentioned she never cleans her makeup brushes she just buys new ones. I’m not sure if she was joking or not honestly People go through life like this and wonder why they have mental health problems…you’re choosing to be dysfunctional do you think that’s going to be fun Maybe she just doesn’t feel shame when admitting things like these? I mean, she was caught driving her Tesla (on autopilot) during that live with Michelle and played it off like it wasn’t a big deal. It’s giving out-of-touch rich person. Weird because she never gave off that vibe on the show.
Mayhem’s could have been a winning performance that would have Ru cackling and wheezing.. if it wasn’t done by Mayhem. For Irene’s talent show, she explained that it’s a skit she regularly does for laughs, and that a lot of it had to be cut out to meet the Whoville Grinch Christmas shirt but in fact I love this show’s time limit. Even though I haven’t seen the full skit, sounds like the issue boiled down to cut content and needing polish on what was kept in. (Although I think during a Roscoes watch party, some queens said they did laugh a little, but it was cut from the edit entirely.) Mayhem had me cackling with “Chaka Khan Chaka Khan”, but unfortunately the feeing was mutual and she started cakcling with me the thing is Iren was looking very confident yet i didn’t find that funny at all and mayhem was funny at first but you could feel she just was not in control and it look not prepared.

She laughed and stopped her performance right in the beginning, in her second line, so I can’t even judge if it was supposed to be good or not, she just didn’t deliver anything. the girls should remember its a 90 seconds time slot for talent show…bitch better be know how to pack that time slot. Even in another universe Irene’s talent show will NEVER work. I can see with Mayhem but she laugh at her own joke and BOMBED.

Mayhems was funny until she forgot what she was supposed to say and couldn’t vamp or make something up to get through it. Irenes I felt was maybe a bit too clever for it’s own good. When you only have 90 seconds, you can’t mess around. I was shocked at Mayhem not being able to recover, but that ‘never trust a fart’ line and then not being able to stop giggling made me love her even more. Idk about Irene’s, but Mayhem’s had so much potential, she could have even used Ru’s line, “if them bitches ain’t paying your bills, them no mind”. I think Mayhems is a good structure to get a lot of jokes in and she probably would’ve been fine had she actually remember any of them. Irene’s just fundamentally does not work for the Drag Race talent show format I’m waiting to see what could have been funny about Irene’s…. A longer set of the ice water skit just sounds worse! Maybe she’s used to doing it in front of completely hammered people who will laugh at anything Mayhem’s definitely had potential. It was a quick set-up to get a high rate of subversive humor that could’ve killed and Ru would’ve loved it if executed properly.

I definitely get why the full experience would be funny, but for a drag race talent show it was dead in the (ice) water. Hennys, we should all tweet to Mayhem and tell her to upload her full talent show somewhere. It genuinely had the potential to be hilarious and has a strong start. Mayhem’s routine probably is hilarious. She just didn’t do it. I’d love to watch it on YouTube or something with her actually making her way last the first joke. Like I dont think it’s fair to compare these two where one just fell flat and another never got done. Ru was never going to like or “get” Irene’s talent show act. I thought it was funny, but Ru’s stuck in the 90s and Irene should have played to that.

RPDR just wants to see kicks and splits with a bitch track. Non lipsync talents are destined to be in the bottom. Mayhem genuinely made me laugh before the whole thing crashed and burned. Idk what more Irene could have done, her routine just doesn’t work for that timeframe. I think Irene’s concept is killer. I think editing it down to 1 minute stripped out the “meat” of the comedy. Given the time to let the concept expand so the punchlines land would have been more successful.
Honestly? Neither. I dunno why some of yall are saying they ‘had potential’ when both acts were clearly dead on arrival. If anything I think Irene was funny on an almost meta level just over how stupid is to see someone do a glass water recipe for a talent show. I mean meditation is all about silence and low rhythms. Those two are anthrax for comedy. It could be pulled off successfully by someone who’s clever about the use of silence and slow delivery… but Mayhem? Girl, she wanted to go home. Irene’s show would have been fantastic as a mid show performance live, not something to introduce yourself first thing on Drag Race.
Mayhem was mean to my fav local drag queens and I can’t get over her being on this season let alone bombing the Whoville Grinch Christmas shirt but in fact I love this talent show… again. Irene said that when she does the ice water routine in clubs, it’s 20-30 minutes long. That’s literally the joke. But the talent show act is only supposed to be a minute, so it never would have been funny on RPDR. Mayhem did plan her routine to the time limit, and it started funny, so she might’ve been fine had she not flubbed her lines. If they camped their performances up then they both could have made it through. Mayhem is a legend in her own right but drag race is not the show for her to be honest. I think Mayhem’s could have been nothing more than “safe” even if executed perfectly. Irene’s only would have been good with a lot more time.
I go first – I was at a trade fair event (don’t know if it is the Whoville Grinch Christmas shirt but in fact I love this correct word in english, basically an event where companies show you their new technic stuff) in cologne for my company to look for electronic whiteboards and digital flipcharts and stuff like that. I flew from munich to cologne in the early morning and returned late at night, so I didn’t have any luggage with me. Only one thing: A work canteen manufacturer there handed out free wooden cooking spoons, and knowing mine at home wasn’t in the best shape I took it with me. So the only item I sent through the scanner besides my mobile phone, belt etc. was a wooden spoon – the guys at the cologne airport found that pretty funny, and me too.

Top and bottom are both crystal, and they’re connected by a brass section. It’s only about 15 inches tall, and no shade. I brought back a large Japanese doll in a class case this way! My host family gifted her to me, and I was terrified the whole time haha
