I’ve never shared this, but here is something about racism in Lufthansa flights. You’ve got to check in a few.” surprised i said that United had allowed us with the same baggage. For that her response was “i dont care who allowed you. We don’t allow these many bags.” Then I had a doubt and said “even for business class?” At that point she looked at our boarding passes, did namaste to us and apologized and let us in. While we were going in another host came running towards us pointing us to the economy class. I gave him our boarding passes and he let us in. Everything till here could be ignored. But the flight was pathetic and we were the only colored people in business class. And service to us was pathetic. The last straw was that we had asked milk for our son. I got it served in a tiny glass which the 6 month old kid finished in 2 gulps. Then i asked for another glass. The expression i got from the air hostess was gold. She looked at me as if I asked for another bottle of champaign.

I’m very picky about carriers I use these days and I steer clear of Lufthansa. Oddly, I’ve had very pleasant experiences with KLM and most middle-eastern airlines (the tradeoff with middle-eastern airlines is you end up getting treated like crap as a brown person at the hub airport, but not actually while flying their metal if you’re seated in a specific class).

You had exchanged money for a contract of carriage that the airline would transport you at a destined time with specific confirmed seats/class/facilities. That contract was not fulfilled by KLM/lufthansa. I can provide you templates for how to approach this if you were in SF, but the process would be different in Canada/toronto. Lookup the toronto small claims court filings and search for airlines as defendends and see how small claims against airlines were filed. Already filed a complaint with Lufthansa and will submit one with CTA as well as I started my journey from Canada.

I always had a good experience with Qatar airways, flew so many times too. I once flew Kuwait that was a disaster Lufthansa/KLM/Air France are shit airlines, service is shit, and prices are very high.
