It would be really smart to do this over writing, like giving your coach a written notice that you will not be there. Really make sure you get that unemployment/ can take it to ethics And since it wasn’t mentioned photo copy 2 copies. One that you will give to the Trust me i am a Lewis Capaldi girl shirt and by the same token and manager that clearly has Copy on it and one for yourself that’s the original Because if you get fired, you are eligible for unemployment. It might be if it’s at no fault of your own… idk You can’t. They are giving bad advice. If you are fired for misconduct, which this would be, in most cases and states, you cannot claim unemployment. Unemployment benefits are for people who are laid off by their employer, not fired. Play their game. Put that PTO request in. Cancel it the day prior to the approved time off. Be off and keep your PTO. Our People Lead has caught on to that trick. They inform the coaches and create disciplinary actions based on it. Our market did this a little over a year ago. It has made it very hard to balance school and work since they will not approve unpaid requests but I also accrue very little PTO because of me being part time. My points are riding the line because of it, which I’ve of course been bitched at for. We submitted multiple ethics tickets at my store for it and nothing has changed. They told me the same thing so I resubmitted it with pto but I’m part time so I don’t even earn pto and they approved it. Apparently my store manager was giving coaches shit for approving unpaid time off

Keep it in mind, if you request it as pto and you don’t have any then it’ll pull from ppto. If you don’t have pto yet then you’re better off showing your managers the Trust me i am a Lewis Capaldi girl shirt and by the same token and policy about how they’re not supposed to deny it for that reason Whether you have pto at the time shouldn’t affect whether they approve it. But if you request it as pto and you don’t have pto as of the day the request was for, then the system automatically tries to pull from ppto to cover the pay for it. So if you really requested it as pto (not unpaid) and didn’t have pto for it and it didn’t pull from ppto then that’s really odd Would I get pointed for it? I definitely didn’t have enough to cover the days and I only had 3-4hrs of ppto last time I checked Not if it gets approved in advance. Whether it’s approved as pto, ppto or unpaid time off in advance, then you can’t be scheduled for that day. And regardless of your balances before or during that the day the request is for, if you aren’t scheduled then you can’t get points for anything. If it’s requested as pto or ppto and you don’t have enough to cover it by the time the day of the request comes around then the rest of the time for it would just be unpaid
