Meta, and Microsoft and Amazon basically DOUBLED their workforce during the pandemic for some reason, and Meta especially had people they were hoarding like Pokemon cards (2 years given no work to do!). Even after those layoffs there still more people at those companies than in 2019 so the scale of the layoff isn’t a .com event by any means. Tech is too big and there’s too many people hiring. Now it’s just people outside of FAANG getting top tier talent. yes I know they still net more ppl working than before Covid, but a lot of the ppl laid off were working at these companies for almost a decade. This! It’s about personal stability. I want to know they’re stable so I know I’m stable. If they’ve hit a downturn, is it this quarter? Has it been the pattern for a couple quarters? Cuz I don’t just want to stay, I want a bonus and a raise.
