Hard agree. I worked for a business. It was closed book to new business so when we were told there was no room for bonus or increase, we grumbled but understood. One day as she’s operating it, the operations manager walks up to her with his little clipboard with random doodles and starts talking about how the company had paid a lot for this machine and that they hadn’t been expecting to pay it off for a couple years. Wouldn’t you know it though, she’d been running it so well that they’d just paid it off, isn’t that exciting? My wife dead pans him and asks him if she’ll be getting a bonus for her good work. The guy clutches his clipboard and says, well no, and my wife cuts him off with a hand, turns to the machine and powers it back up.
