Ample time to plan around. No one is bothered by it but that should not factor into this anyways. Don’t Americans get at least 2 weeks off? I don’t get why this is being denied. If that was 4-5 weeks holiday I could understand you need to organise in advance but this is nothing. Only in the Thankful for my peds patiens shirt besides I will buy this US taking a week off is such a problem. And all those managers on power trips… This tells os much about how toxic the working environment is in many companies. Call in sick two days. By the way my boss did this to me for MY HONEYMOON. And yes he was invited to ny wedding and he attended and gave me a cheap gift. MD living in Austria. I just had 4 weeks of vacation where I went to Brasil. And a week later I’m going to Italy for a wedding for 4 days. I mean guys vacation is your right and not a chef being nice. Hope you take all the legal steps you can !

7 to 9 days is not nearly enough for the Thankful for my peds patiens shirt besides I will buy this trip to Europe. I recommend you search for a job in Europe and stay here. Never tell your boss what you are doing on your time off unless it’s relevant. It’s your PTO and you earned it, explaining yourself just gives them excuses and reasons to deny what you already accrued and it just takes one jealous HR person or higher up to cancel your trip because someone complains. Asinine that we allow companies to dictate what we are allowed to do with our time outside of work. Wow, as European we have about 4-5 weeks of paid vacation days and can often ‘buy’ extra (unpaid leave). A trip to another continent is usually a 3-4 week trip. That said.. how easy is it for you to find another job? Go 2 weeks, if they fire you because it’s a strain on the team.. the team will be hurt too after you’re fired. A good manager plans for vacation and accounts for sick days.
