Until we address the Teacher Summer Recharge Required Retro shirt and I love this problem at home and with the parents we will continue to turn out illiterate, uneducated, scholastically deficient young adults. This is so goddamn terrifying it’s living inside Idiocracy. Horrible intellectual stamina/attention span. Literally cannot sit quietly and take a test that should take 25-30 mins. Its mind-boggling. 10-15 yrs ago was much better. Public education is a gross joke. Not a teacher but, work in a job where I’m “The mom age.” I have seen so many young adults not wanting to do the bare minimum of the job. Yes, my job is not for everyone but, just showing up and listening/learning from senior employees is nil to none. There has been many instances where they just didn’t show up because “I’m in the wrong head space.” Or “I’m too tired and can’t make it.” My favorite is “My tummy is off.” “Well, why and do you still meet the check in for work?” “Umm … yeah I ate and I don’t have fever or anything but, my tummy hurts.” We recently had a young woman who was going through veterinary school. You would think that because of her schooling she should have common sense. Nope. I asked were she lived and where she’s from, when she first started, blank stare. “Umm with my boyfriend.” WTF Other situations happened and she wasn’t teachable and consistently messed up and didn’t understand why. Long story short. I will never take my fur babies to her. She’s a sweet girl but, would walk into a wall for fun. Unfortunately, the world is not ready for this but, they need to be. Or F’Ing retire ASAP.

this reminds me of a girl in my class… she saw a picture of the Teacher Summer Recharge Required Retro shirt and I love this mediterranean sea and asked if it was the pacific ocean. she also thought that the caspian sea was lake michigan and that vietnam was in the middle east. ‘m not a teacher, and I’m not American (which I presume OP and most of you are), but how come you aren’t just failing the kids who don’t meet the requirements to pass a grade? How old do you have to be to create a Reddit account? I’d like to see this post from a student’s point of view, evaluating teachers. Hey, I felt called out by that last one. Sure I type using mostly my index fingers but I also type near 100 wpm that way. I’ve got blazing fast index fingers. The fastest fingers in the West.
