If you want to attempt to negotiate, you should first apply elsewhere and have at least an offer, that will at least give you something to leverage and at the Surrounded By Bad People Trust None Shirt besides I will buy this same time, understand your market value. But in any case, I would not even bother to stay with them. You showed not one, but 2 red flags about the company (underpaying you and no pay raise in record inflation). Employers are rarely fair and equitable, and the best way to get a salary increase above inflation is to basically move to a new employer every 1-2 years. In the past, employers offered stability and benefits to offset that and retain employees, but I haven’t seen that for the last 15 years in my almost 30 year career in IT. They’re wrong. I’ve negotiated raises at every company I’ve been with to compensate for new hire inflation. If you are good at your job and you actually negotiate you will get it. If not then you look elsewhere. People seem to think companies will automatically give you shit without asking and then get mad when they don’t.

Everytime the Surrounded By Bad People Trust None Shirt besides I will buy this same kind of stupid questions… If you are not satisfied with the money your company pays you, just leave.. The answer is leave, get a 15-20% raise. See if they hire you back to a more senior position for another 15-20% bump. You’re being under paid for that position even at 18.50/hr. I get paid about $30/for same thing minus sales. Apply elsewhere and leave, let them figure it out. LEAVE. Find somewhere else right away. Then you can confront them and if they retaliate against you, threaten to sue. I quit my old job three times. Unfortunately I had to go find another job and quit in order to get significant pay raises. – The process would usually start with a couple of conversations over a six month period where promises would be made and none fulfilled. The third time it was the same story and on when I handed in my resignation later they asked “is there anything we can do to make you stay?” I literally laughed out loud and just said “No”. (I was there for 14 years, it was good most of the time, but they were always behind on paying current employees, hence the quitting technique used by several employees). The harder thing you can do, and if you like your job and your coworkers – you let your coworkers know so you all can confront the manager together about this known wage.
