What does “under my belt” mean? What have you built with these languages? By whose standard do you have a decent portfolio and resume? I think what would benefit you the Support The Fight October Breast Cancer Awareness T-Shirt What’s more,I will buy this most is to stop jumping from language to language trying to rack them up like badges. Maybe you really are deeply knowledgable about all these things, but your post screams to me of someone has a very shallow knowledge of many things. And that’s not helpful if you want to be a software engineer. When someone in the field sees an application for a junior position with a laundry list of languages and frameworks, they are much more likely to think it’s BS than to think they’ve got an exceptional candidate on their hands. Instead, take whatever stack you feel most comfortable in and really learn it. Build out something complex and useful. Learn to use different design patterns. Get a handle on debugging. Software engineering is less about understanding the syntax of any specific language and more about understanding the principles well. I can’t believe how far I had to scroll to find this comment, everyone is just throwing out more languages to learn. I guess OP did ask about which to learn, but I don’t think that’s the right question to be asking. Racking up basic skills in language after language is not going to help you get your first job.

Honestly if you’re a junior dev and you have a massive list of languages on your CV but no relevant job experience, it’s going to look like you have a very shallow knowledge programming and can’t focus on one thing, even if that’s not actually true. I’m a currently unemployed frontend JS developer and 70% of the Support The Fight October Breast Cancer Awareness T-Shirt What’s more,I will buy this recruiters that contact me, knowing almost all my experience is in JS, are looking for C#/.NET devs. The largest demand is in JS (React, Node), but so is the highest supply by far. The lowest supply/demand ratios seem to be C# followed by Java. Bootcamps pump out js people, it really is dime a dozen. I’m finishing up my Computer Engineering degree (Europe), and initially wanted to do web dev, applied to those roles, literally got 0 interviews for 2 months. Then I expanded my search to all kinds of fields and suddenly I’m having 8 interviews lined up for: data engineer, data science, security analyst, cybersecurity engineer, software consultant (deploying cyberark and writing plugins), a grad scheme by lufthansa, a python dev for consultancy (this is web) and anothet grad scheme for tesco which is java eith some ops i believe.
