Super sorry to hear you had to deal with that, sounds like quite the Stitch Green Bay Packers Autism Awareness Don’t Judge What you Don’t Understand Shirt but in fact I love this ordeal, but I’m very glad to hear it all worked out for you in the end. You can send a check via Certified Mail if you’re willing to pay ~$4 extra per month and make a trip to the Post Office. They have to sign for the delivery and your payment date is the day they receive your payment, not the date they cash it. You don’t need to worry about it being lost because Certified Mail is tracked and it is generally a 1-2 day delivery time (also because it is tracked). Save your green ticket as your receipt. I’ve heard that you can do a similar thing directly through your bank, to basically set up auto-pay via check directly through them. Luckily I haven’t had to try and figure that out yet though The green card for Certified Mail is also postmarked as well, so you’d also have the send (well, when the USPS processes it) date.

IANAL, but CM is valid in court proceedings for establishing date sent, date received, and who received it. It’d be a tough thing for a landlord to to argue against – the Stitch Green Bay Packers Autism Awareness Don’t Judge What you Don’t Understand Shirt but in fact I love this only play they’d have would be to claim you didn’t send any actual payment in the envelope, but an official image of a processed check from the bank would lock that out. What in the actual fuck?!? Sounds to me like someone can’t afford to pay for their payment portal website thingy. I’d move. Now. Either that or there’s something fraudulent going on. Cash is good way of concealing payments if you want to commit tax fraud for instance. It’s odd because 90% of the time they just foist the payment portal fees onto the tenants anyway. I think something else is up, which likely isn’t any better.
