had a customer get mad at me cause we were out of torch propane tanks. said “someone’s out there making bombs with those things right now. He had a receipt, dated a few days before, it was just a couple small wrench sets (that I checked – everything there, everything brand new). (still a CSM and still working nights – probably about 8 or 9 years later) Our AP had come to me that morning as I was leaving telling me that they wanted us to stop accepting returns without a receipt. My idea was to start it off gently and allow the cashiers to warn people and maybe set up signs “as of blah blah we will no long accept no-receipt returns after 10pm” or something (we got away with unregulated signs for a bit). I knew this would go over like lead balloon with some customers.
