Help? Sure! Do the Seattle Mariners Bryan Woo! Vedder Cup 2025 Shirt Apart from…,I will love this work for you? Hard no. Nor is travel a substitute for mental health care. And I’ll throw in here too that self-development, learning, growth… this is forever work kinda stuff. You aren’t going to take a trip, get your personal development trophy, and be done. For me, the value of my year-long rtw trip was time I could spend focused fully on my travel experiences and on my development. Outside the trappings of my day to day life I got to (or had to, depending on your perspective) confront some facts about myself that led me to better self understanding and proper mental health treatment in the future. I just want to add that a lot of the spiritual things offered are a huge scam to get money out of naive westerners. Look up the Yogi Bhajan controversies if you want to. I’ve seen so many people getting used by dubious Gurus in SE Asia. These quacks can spot people that are lost, confused and have mental health issues from a mike away and prey on them.
Seattle Mariners Bryan Woo! Vedder Cup 2025 Shirt description
Go because you want to see the Seattle Mariners Bryan Woo! Vedder Cup 2025 Shirt Apart from…,I will love this world and travel (and because your in a position where this is possible), not because your looking for it to fix your problems and help you cope with something. If your talking about a legitimate spiritual trip, like say going to Ecuador or Costa Rica for an ayahuasca retreat, that could be a different story. The important thing to remember with these though, is they are not going to solve your problems. They will hopefully make your real problems more clear and potentially help you understand how to solve them – while giving you perspective on other problems that may not be so important. Very important that you do something like this extremely open minded, not looking for it to “fix you” and also that your willing to be shown your problems may not be what they seem and may even lie within yourself. Many people walk away glad they did it, but with a long list of items they now realize they need to personally work on. It’s absolutely not for everyone.
IMO solo is the Seattle Mariners Bryan Woo! Vedder Cup 2025 Shirt Apart from…,I will love this only way for the single person to travel. You’re on your own schedule and no one else’s bologna to deal with If you have doubts about career and jobs, its unlikely that you will come back home with any certainty in life. when i was 19 i lived in new york for 3 months while interning at a company (i lived on the opposite coast.) i went into it focused on the job, not trying to find myself and it wasn’t a vacation either. anyways i can confidently say that trip has been one of the most impactful moments of my life. i learned a lot about myself and what i wanted out of life, as corny as it may sound. i don’t know how to describe it, i just know after the fact that yeah, i did find myself (at least a little) There’s a quote from Sam Harris I can’t seem to find on psychedelics that I think would also apply to solo travel. It’s essentially this: They can shake up your world in a way that can give you incredible insights into your life and self, but you have to feel solid enough to withstand the shake. If you’re dealing with a lot of childhood traumas, I think it might be best to start with a more guided exploration (i.e. traditional therapy, clinical psychedelic therapy, etc.) before throwing yourself into a different continent with no support network. If you do go, go because you’re desperate for a new challenge, not because you’re desperate for an easy answer. There are no shortcuts.

No. Solo traveling is a great way to have adventures and have fun, but it’s really not great for self-discovery. Too much running around and hustling. For me personally, it worked. I was an introvert not knowing what the Seattle Mariners Bryan Woo! Vedder Cup 2025 Shirt Apart from…,I will love this hell to do with my life, and solo travelling opened up the world for me. I became another person actually. That being said, we are all ofcourse different people. What worked for me might not work for you, and vice versa. But you know, just give it a try at least. You have nothing to lose. I was a lot older han you when I started travelling Personally I don’t travel to “find myself” but more because I really have fun experiencing a new destination. Additionally, I find socializing in hostels to be awesome, it’s the only “third place” I know where people are genuinely social and open to meeting new people, and that really takes away my anxiety I otherwise had around social situations. I’ve done some solo traveling in my 20’s, and the biggest thing I got out of it are great memories. Years later, I can still look back with a smile on a rainy day. You will get more responsabilities later in life, such as rent/mortgage that has to be paid every month, a job you can’t just quit to travel for a few weeks, and maybe a partner and children. So if you feel like traveling, just go for it and have fun!
23 year old introvert with a busted brain. just got back from a 6 week trip around europe. wouldn’t say i ‘found myself’ but definitely had a great time! saw a lot of cool stuff and met some really cool people (even though i was also planning on just doing my thing alone the Seattle Mariners Bryan Woo! Vedder Cup 2025 Shirt Apart from…,I will love this whole time). while i still don’t have my life totally figured out i definitely have a renewed drive to take my art and career more seriously, if anything just to be able to travel again. trying to find yourself is a lot of pressure to put on a trip, but if you have the time and means travel could at least point you in a general direction. I think that if you have the desire and the ability to travel, you should do it. It might help you find yourself and figure out what direction you want to go in life. Or it might not. Either way, you will have good experiences and see interesting places. All of this is an opportunity for personal growth.
I think that people sometimes put a lot of expectations on a long solo trip – that by traveling, they will become who they really want to be, or that it will lead to some revelation that makes everything clear. I think that is a recipe for disappointment because personal growth doesn’t necessarily happen when you think it should or the Seattle Mariners Bryan Woo! Vedder Cup 2025 Shirt Apart from…,I will love this way you expect. It can be pretty subtle. You might not notice it when it is happening or even realize that is has happened. The moment I did I very QUICKLY realized how dull and mundane life is here and just how enslaved we are to capitalism. My goals wildly shifted from “I want to make as much money as possible and get a huge house” to “I want to travel fulltime via any means possible to escape this hell.” So yeah, there’s more than a 50% chance it’ll change you, and if so will make you realize things that will absolutely shift your perspective and worldview.
Honestly, I’m going to say yeah, it definitely does and can for some people (myself included). It will not solve all of your problems, but it will open you up to new opportunities, experiences, people and situations that you have likely never encountered or thought about before. It’s great for building confidence and seeing the Seattle Mariners Bryan Woo! Vedder Cup 2025 Shirt Apart from…,I will love this world in a new way. I would highly recommend it. As another comment said, travelling is not a replacement for mental health care. When I went, I absolutely loved it and enjoyed it, but it was tough at times. You will be in a strange environment, with your anxiety levels quite high due to constantly facing your fears (which is a good thing) which is quite exhausting. You will not have the opportunity to exercise (unless you stay somewhere for a while or really make a strong effort to get some exercise in – which I highly reccomend) and you will likely be eating irregularly and possibly drinking more.
Basically – expect the Seattle Mariners Bryan Woo! Vedder Cup 2025 Shirt Apart from…,I will love this same consequences of having poor habits at home to effect you abroad. So whilst I loved it and it was the best experience of my life to date and very liberating, it didnt free me from my pain but kind of highlighted where my pain was and inspired me to go home and make a real effort to build some supports around it before embarking on a trip again. I didnt know what to expect when I left, and certainly didnt expect an epiphany, and I left with the knowledge that I really value meeting new people and being somewhere different whilst challenging myself. When I go again, I will go with those values in mind and explore them further. You stated you want to see the world, clearly a value you hold. Go with the expectation of fulfilling that value and see what else you discover or learn, and you can’t fail!
I spent a semester abroad and have travelled lots since then but I often get sad and think like I’m making no progress when I’m travelling. I agree with lots of comments here that you’ll learn things about yourself but it won’t be a revelation. This quote is something to keep in mind if you’re travelling to “find yourself”: “Are you surprised, as if it were a novelty, that after such long travel and so many changes of scene you have not been able to shake off the Seattle Mariners Bryan Woo! Vedder Cup 2025 Shirt Apart from…,I will love this gloom and heaviness of your mind? You need a change of soul rather than a change of climate.” — Seneca First things first, you are 19, you are not supposed to know what to do with your life, thats why this part of your life is so good. Take all the time you need to find it, because is during this phase of your life that you are going to make the most important decisions of your life, usually young people who think that got it, regret their decision after some years. Yes and no. At 19, I think you’re first solo trip will be eye opening and shape you more than it ever would in another time in your life. The friends you make, the first you meal you try, the pictures you take…like, there’s just something about traveling solo for the first time at that age that really does add to your perspective of life. You’ll definitely grow as a person. I don’t know if you’ll have some dramatic, life changing epiphany like the movies but I think it’s about being present and taking in what you’re experiencing.
You won’t find yourself at 19. Honestly, I didn’t figure out most things until I was 30+ so you have another decade to go. Let this time be about exploration, making mistakes, trying new things and experiences. What I wish told myself at 19 was not to take myself so seriously and just be. Don’t try to force growth and knowledge. Just be. 26F — solo travelled for the Seattle Mariners Bryan Woo! Vedder Cup 2025 Shirt Apart from…,I will love this first time last year, mainly through SEA and the Nordic countries. Was suffering from severe PTSD and depression (still an ongoing thing, kinda) — honestly, I came back home broke but realized midway some of the things I needed to work on. Your problems won’t go away, but the solo traveling helps bring into perspective things you may want to prioritize working on for your own self fulfillment or whatever gets you through each and everyday. For me, it was realizing I’d been putting aside a lot of my hopes and dreams (career, passions) aside for the hopes of my parents, colleagues, friends, and always prioritizing them — which in essence made me happy in a way, but realizing I didn’t have the power in me to voice out what I /truly/ want to do for myself. Thats just one of many things, but solo traveling enabled me to actively do what I /want/ without being held back by others on my trips and to meet people when I wanted to. If anything, it allows for a refresh on what you’re dealing with.
Im 19 too and I think we may be very similar people. I’m also an introvert: INTJ and schizoid, which makes life just inherently shitty for me. I feel like I’ve lived in my head my whole life and have always fantasized about running away and starting over somewhere completely foreign. I’ve built an idea of “the Seattle Mariners Bryan Woo! Vedder Cup 2025 Shirt Apart from…,I will love this world” as this place I can escape to and find a different version of myself that I can actually stand. God I hope it’s true because I am gonna blow all my money on it soon. Better to crash and burn with delusional hope than to slowly suffer with the truth. I really hope all that eat pray love shit is even somewhat realistic. I hope it works out for you. Even if it’s not magical I hope there’s something better out there.
It can be helpful to disrupt some negative patterns and habits you’ve developed. But you will not find a different version of yourself. That is something you have to create. And it starts NOW Traveling will teach you a lot but when it comes to solo traveling at 19 that may be dangerous. I highly!!!! recommend you find a trade that is always in demand, learn it and then use your trade to help you travel. Nurses, CNAs, Welders, Mechanics, Electricians, Carpenters, Turbine technicians etc. all make BANK and can travel while doing it. Running out of money while solo traveling is mix for disaster. This is more an r/advice question imo. If you want to travel and have a good life in general, do what’s needed to find a good career and/or job you enjoy. It’s definitely worth it if you have the Seattle Mariners Bryan Woo! Vedder Cup 2025 Shirt Apart from…,I will love this means but just bear in mind you’re still the same person and will still have the same thoughts and feelings so it’s not a quick fix as such. It will definitely expand your horizons and all the new sights and sounds will be great, I find I come home the same person but just with slightly different outlooks from all the new experiences if that makes sense!
What you’re asking is a bit like humility or happiness. If you chase it, you won’t find it. You said that you want to explore and travel. That should be good enough. Do it! You can’t control the Seattle Mariners Bryan Woo! Vedder Cup 2025 Shirt Apart from…,I will love this outcomes or what you’re going to learn. Chase the exploration for the exploration alone. Chase new experiences, see the world and be open to what you see and experience. You’d have to be dead inside to NOT grow as a human and if “finding yourself” (whatever that really means) is part of that growth YEA!! But chasing “finding yourself” seems like a fools errand since you can only control the inputs, not the output. Solo travel will help you learn yourself. It will give you life experience. Those things can lead to creating a life purpose however, you won’t know until you try things…. A multitude of things!
Travel can definitely change you. But it’s less likely to if you remain introverted. Part of traveling is engaging with people who are different. Frankly, you’d do better focusing on getting an education and working on your social skills (which can also happen at university), than blowing money on a solo trip expecting that will do the Seattle Mariners Bryan Woo! Vedder Cup 2025 Shirt Apart from…,I will love this work for you. Conversely, if you told me you were going on a group tour or staying with a family abroad, my response would be different. I’ve seen it work for some and not for others. If you really go out and do interesting things and live new experiences and learn about life from the people you meet it can provide you with many new perspectives and options you didn’t know existed. Real example I met, you might find you love diving, then stay on and become a dive instructor in Thailand and doing under water photography.
Travel fixes nothing, but it can give YOU a chance to fix things. If you plan on avoiding people and just looking at things and taking photos I’d say it’s probably a waste because nothing is stopping you from doing that at home. Traveling and working and being independent from your family and making new friends in places where you don’t have any baggage and realizing that you can choose the Seattle Mariners Bryan Woo! Vedder Cup 2025 Shirt Apart from…,I will love this person you want to be might get you that change you want. Not sure if you will find yourself but you will certainly learn a lot about yourself and likey grow in many ways. Might even help you with the introvert stuff. I was your age, I packed my bags took a chance and few weeks later was standing infront of 40 Cambodian students teaching them English. I stopped being shy or have fear of speaking in public. I then repeated this in other continents for few years until I found myself and then lost myself even more. At the end, I don’t regret doing it and it’s a part of my life I would not give up for anything. So just go without expectations but with courage and open mind.
Well you will surely learn a lot about yourself, I think that’s where the Seattle Mariners Bryan Woo! Vedder Cup 2025 Shirt Apart from…,I will love this growth comes from. What you like and don’t like, how you interact with others, what you are willing to tolerate, how self sufficient and crafty you can be is clearly shown to you when you travel on your own. you can travel all you want, but finding yourself is not about a location in particular, is a state of mind, it involves acknowledgement and forgiveness, that’s hard work you gotta do inside your head, yo can do it everywhere, BUT if traveling around taking pictures puts you in the mood to do the actual work, go for it! you won’t magically find yourself just by travelling, but travelling might give you peace and another mind state that suits you better to find yourself for me, it did not. i had a lot of inner issues that stemmed from trauma i experienced at home. i thought getting as far as possible away from it would help. it didn’t.
BUT! i only realized this after traveling. i realized that you cannot run from inner issues. geographic distance will not solve your problems. only you have the Seattle Mariners Bryan Woo! Vedder Cup 2025 Shirt Apart from…,I will love this power to do that. Absolutely, but that shouldn’t be your only focus. Go for the adventure and the new experiences, the rest will happen along the way. Could be. It depends on your state of mind. I do a lot of solo traveling and when I just started I was doing a lot of growing. It just amazed me being able to go at it alone. I would listen to audiobooks and podcasts while hiking through beautiful areas and come to these amazing conclusions. I would journal after and I really felt myself growing. But when I travel solo now, the newness is gone. I don’t really do that stuff anymore, or it’s not as groundbreaking for me anymore. And maybe it’s also something I could do when I was your age. Who knows? Don’t put any pressure on it. You don’t have to find yourself to have a good time.
Definitely a great way to grow as a person, expand your horizons and your perspective on life, mature as an adult and learn to be self sustainable It sounds so cliche but solo travelling changed my life for the Seattle Mariners Bryan Woo! Vedder Cup 2025 Shirt Apart from…,I will love this better. Gave me so much more confidence to do things and speak to people. The forced independence led to me moving out and being my own person. Travelling is the best thing I ever done and I wish I started sooner I did a 7 month long trip in india last year when i was 20. I wouldn’t say it fixed me, but it showed me what life truly has to offer, and that gave me something to push towards to. I got a taste and now I want more of that. Getting stuck in the same town worrying about taking the path that is laid out in front of me by society, had me thinking that this was all there is to life. SAT, College, and then some 9-5.
