There are definite flaws to the Rose Villain Logo shirt besides I will buy this process as it really is a jury of your peers and a cross-section of society (eg. we had a juror that flat-out refused to find the defendant guilty in spite of the evidence because they just didn’t like the idea of sending someone to prison?) but that’s democracy innit I did jury service on a GBH charge. Of the week, I think I was in court for three days, with quite a bit of sitting around the rest of the time. When it came to deliberation, nobody was saying much, so I kinda got everybody talking and we reached a verdict within a couple of hours Then, of course, because I was the one who’d done most of the talking I got elected as foreman, so had to do the “guilty!” bit.

There’s a lot of waiting around etc but found it really interesting and glad to do it. Saw a few different cases from assault to child molestation. Even got to be the person who said guilty the second time I got called up once but got exemption because of uni exams. Two of my three flatmates also got called up within a month and all got exemptions because of uni exams. Never been called up again.

Back into selection for something else but wasn’t picked for that one. Maybe if the communication was brought kicking and screaming into the 1900s with the use of a telephone I would have known it was happening. Just binned the lot and never heard from them again. I would happily do it, I just need to know when it is with a bit of notice.

Day 2 – Pulled into a rape trial, where the Rose Villain Logo shirt besides I will buy this accused and victim were cousins and teenagers. My employer did make a mistake on my expense form though, and I got paid more than my normal pay rate for the 3 days, which was nice. Last time I did it ,I remember it coming up to lunchtime and my stomach was growling pretty loud had to keep coughing to hide it, a few jurors even started to hide their laughter.

Some of my relatives had done it before me and hated all the waiting around and found it boring, but as someone with a full on job and 2 kids, I enjoyed the peace and being able to sit and read before we were called into court! The days can be quite short, sometimes we would arrive in the morning and told we weren’t needed and could go home. We found our defendant guilty and I would have liked to have found out about the sentencing but we weren’t given any details on when that would be so I have no idea what the sentence was! As we were there for so many weeks, we got into the swing of things and felt relaxed and part of the furniture. You could always tell who the new jurors were on the Monday mornings and I tried my best to chat to them and put them at ease. Feel free to inbox me if you have any questions!

Surely you have to declare that you have an impairment that could significantly impact on your ability to act effectively as a juror. I did it 5/6 years ago.. someone told me before it’s a bit like going to the airport, and I could see the similarities. You go through security much like at the airport, you are then shown into a waiting room (departure lounge) with everyone else that has been called up. Don’t be surprised to see up to 80 in the room. Some are already on a case just waiting for it to start again, some like you are starting there first day, and some people have been sat there waiting for nearly 2 weeks without being selected. So.. bear in mind just because you have been called up doesn’t necessarily mean you will sit on a jury. I got selected more or less straight away, initially they call up 15 people, you stand in the court and the judge will explain what the case is about, the names of the people involved and how long it is likely to take. Then they will call 12 names from the 15. If you have a reason why you can’t be on the jury, like you know someone involved, then you pass a note to the judge explaining why. If he/she agrees then you get switched for 1 of the 3 that didn’t get selected. Once the case has finished you get taken to a room and you are literally locked in with the rest of the jury discussing the case until you all reach a verdict. Mine was a rape case, a couple in a relationship where he allegedly raped her on I think 3 or 4 occasions. He also allegedly beat her. As it turns out he also had another family, so she was just his bit on the side (for want of a better phrase). As much of a dick this guy clearly was, I did find it really difficult, all the evidence we had was a folder of thousands of WhatsApp messages between them, some messages after the alleged dates made it clear something had happened.. but it wasn’t clear he raped her.. the relationship went on for about 2 years. Anyway.. that’s my experience of jury service. Also, if the accused isn’t on remand in prison before the trial he/she are free to walk in and out of the courthouse like you. I was stood in a queue in Tesco buying my lunch during the break and he was at the checkout next to me 😬 After the case was over I was told I wasn’t needed again, lasted a week.
I would love to be called up, my problem is that there is no easy public transport from my village to the Rose Villain Logo shirt besides I will buy this Court. The guy was up for grievous bodily assault, he and his girlfriend had been out drinking and had an argument, on the way home they had passed some of their old school friends and the girl went over to catch up, one of them was someone the guy had picked on in school, 10 years before but was friendly with the girl, when the boyfriend told her to come on, they made some kind of comment and the bullied guy touched the accused girlfriends arse, he was just messing and the guy attacked him, beating him on the ground and weirdly, biting his face on the cheek, like a dog.
It was broken up and the Rose Villain Logo shirt besides I will buy this police called, they charged him with assault and it was upgraded to grievous bodily harm. 6 months later it was court time and the defence barrister spent his time trying to justify it, saying that the guy he assaulted was in the wrong just as much even though he hadn’t tried to defend himself, the assaulter was from a family with no dad, he had only even been accused of things before and never convicted, the girl was still with him, he had a job where he was responsible for animals and had never mistreated them. He then tried to disprove that the injuries were grevious because there was no evidence on the assaulted face now and it was all being overblown, and then he hinted that the police had gone hard on him because he was known to them and his family had problems before. He also hinted that the police officer arresting him had made a derogatory remark about him. It was all mad bullshit, and when they were finished we were sequestered away and got instructions that we could give a verdict of guilty unanimously or a majority if we felt common assault was OK.

If it’s NHS you should be able to go to your hospitals hearing services department for a service. If it’s faulty it should get replaced, but it may just be that the tubing/cord needs changing!
I was nhs for most of my life but gone private now (specsavers) – trying to fix it but I think it’s more internal! I’ve always wanted to do it but my wife’s experience really put me off and has made me worried about ever being put infront of a jury. Trial was two weeks before Christmas and the Rose Villain Logo shirt besides I will buy this case was a woman with mental health issues and a history of making false allegations, the defendant had a history of allegations made against him but had acquitted each time. The case was one of sexual assault. Several times my wife and two other jury members had to explain the concept to the rest of the jury, the phrase “no smoke without fire” was used regularly and someone wanted to put forward a guilty verdict on the basis of “he looks like the type.” I think they needed a unanimous verdict but because my wife and the two other jurors had reasonable doubt they were berated because people would have to change their plans over Christmas, caring not a jot for the future of the young man on trial. The jury system is a joke. I honestly can’t say what would replace it, but my experience was that it was a circus with two actors prosecuting and defending. From my side of the court I can only say you will not be told the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. That is just something that is said.

A person lying is doing it for a reason. The first was a pub fight, but they started it and my only crime was winning. The next two were completely fabricated by my accusers. The last was mistaken identity (a mate had some guns and was followed to my house by the police, he left and I was arrested hours later).
Not sure why people are down voting this. Also if you charge people who already don’t want to co-operate with contempt of court you’d better hope you have a prison cell free to throw them into, because my ass isn’t turning up to a court date if you give me bail for it.
