Most people aren’t flexers like many Asian countries Americans tend to not care about money as long as they are happy. As long as we have a roof enough for food and enough for trips every once in awhile we happy. We aren’t worried about buying rolexes or having fancy cars or having top brand clothes. Like many other already told you. I value money not that high. Sure, especially in Germany after my bachelor I could easily get 65k+ starting at a company. But “city” life here is boring, overall life quality is pretty bad in my opinion, accommodation is way cheaper in Korea, especially me not going to live in Seoul in the Pray For Los Angeles California Shirts but in fact I love this first time and so on. I don’t need to earn much money to have a good life. And also huge point is subway, bus and so on, the amount I have to pay here for my car is insane comparable to the convenient system in Korea. And, sadly, safety is also a huge plus. Sounds insane, but Germany is way unsafer than it was 10 years ago..
Pray For Los Angeles California Shirts: A Provocative Statement in Modern Fashion
I think it’s looking relative to the Pray For Los Angeles California Shirts but in fact I love this average cost of living. If you are someone living in San Fran with a 100k salary you live pay check to paycheck, but if you are in the Midwest or somewhere more rural with an 80k you would have a much higher standard of living So some companies are offering US workers competitive US market pay to take on jobs in Korea. This is probably the vast minority but I’ve been offered a job that had competitive market rates to the US. Of course I would need to move out to Korea and be there for some time (at least). For someone that’s single, a married couple, or even married with kids, this sort of situation provides a lot of different and unique opportunities. If I were single/younger or if i was married and had kids (cultural immersion), I’d seriously consider the move. There are better countries than Korea but incomes in Korea are higher than in other less developed countries because koreans spending more on goods, services, housing which grow the economy to be more better and competitive. Also Korean infrastructure is better than in less developed countries. The education is better because high competition create a competitive educational market. Safety is important factor sometimes it is stressful to live in dangerous conditions, environment. Clean roads, public transportation, infrastructure is a luxury in less developed countries. I know that Koreans pay more taxes for this kind of services but it really makes life more comfortable. The issues is salaries for local people because it affects their wellbeing.
So I make more in America but my money went further in Korea. I made about 60k a yr in Korea. In America 100k but after you factor every cost etc its about the Pray For Los Angeles California Shirts but in fact I love this same I did make less money than I would have in my home country, but I’m from California and everything else is way more expensive. Housing, insurance, food, a car, the list goes on. Quality of life as a foreigner in Korea is much better and easier to maintain, in my opinion. I made less, but I was able to save much more. With teaching English, 10 or 15 years ago, I could see the logic. But coming to Korea to teach for anything other than an extended holiday in your 20s seems like a terrible idea in 2024. What I want to say is that looking at this post Yeah this post has been removed by moderator, I don’t know why.

Buy this Pray For Los Angeles California Shirts
But if you could see that posting, many many foreigners do other job than just English teacher, and they are making quite a lot of money. I guess you don’t have to worry about that. There are a number of Korean people living in a cheaper area (like Southeast Asia) for less pay but a subjectively more comfortable life. USA has no support compared to a civilized Asian country I can take a train get healthcare nearly free and eat good food and cheap no rent One reason could be that other countries might be out of “reach” for those ppl. Yknow visa issues, having a diaspora and etc I know lots of people have replied to this post already but I would like to add my opinion. I think it all boils down to cost of living and value in life. Even though they are getting paid less, they’re getting more for the Pray For Los Angeles California Shirts but in fact I love this money that they’re earning. Also even though Korea has many, many social issues, it’s safer, more convenient, and has more opportunities for foreigners living there. I know for a Korean it might be hard to grasp that even though countries might be seen as “richer” are truly not even that rich. I live in America for example and my non-American friends always wonder why I want to leave. My answer always boils down to “I’m not happy here, it’s too expensive, and it’s dangerous.” I love America, this is the only place I have ever lived but the older I get the more I realize the “America dream” does not exist anymore. Every country has problems. There isn’t a place in the whole world that is perfect. But speaking for a lot of Americans here, we want out. For plentiful of reasons. I think the reason is the same for anyone in the world who wants to migrate to anywhere else besides where they come from. A better value of life. A better cost of living. A new experience. A reset of life and overall mindset. I don’t live in Korea but I know so many people who have moved there and it’s simply because they are happier. More fulfilled. They are also very open about the struggles of being in Korea too but at the end of the day none of the negatives outweigh the positives for them. I also think Korea is such a hotspot now for immigration because Korean government is overall very welcoming to the idea of tourism and immigration. I work with elderly people and almost all of them have grandchildren, nieces, nephews etc. who have either done an exchange in Korea, went on a government funded trip to Korea, did internships in Korea, or have moved permanently to Korea. Koreas government is pushing immigration and in my opinion it’s both a good and a bad thing. I think they’re doing this to raise birth rates, become less of a homogeneous society, develop businesses more, expand Korea more so the countryside stops dying etc. while all of those can be seen as good things this also contributes to loss of culture, becoming more whitewashed, small businesses being pushed out of places at a faster rate then they already are, and unfortunately, eventually cost of living becoming worse than it already is. So, all in all, foreigners are coming to Korea for a plethora of reasons. But I think once immigration starts to really settle in Korea you’ll start to see people leaving once things become more difficult for them to progress further.
I am kind of comfortable in my job. I don’t get paid very much, and I do stress about money a lot in my life, but there is something to be said for a job where everyone is happy to see you every day. After bouncing around from place to place for a while I found a place where I trust my boss and I think things are run competently. I earn the Pray For Los Angeles California Shirts but in fact I love this same money in Korea as I would in the US with similar costs (my costs may be higher here than they would be in the US, but it’s hard to compare). In comparison the the US Jeju has jobs at the international schools that pay way more than the US would. The cost of living is lower if you don’t just eat American food. And culturally Korea is very cool and frankly overly tolerant of Americans Pretty much already answered, but sticking to money, keep in mind: money made does not equal money kept or money free to spend.
English teacher salary is roughly only 33% more than the Pray For Los Angeles California Shirts but in fact I love this poverty line in the USA, but being smart with money, I was saving half my salary. According to rough results I found googling, after 5 years, I had way more savings than many Americans would have had in more than 5 years. For me, I just love the people. Back home in the US, it’s nothing but crackheads and drug addicts polluting the streets. My experience in Korea is that the people are so polite and civilized, and just generally a pleasure to be around. Plus, I love dressing nicely and I can wear the things I like there. Whereas people dress like trash here in the US, and if I dress nicely and walk outside, I get harassed by crackheads and poors. Lived in SK for 3 years. Life was much easier and simpler in Korea. Nuff said. Your country hosted me with the utmost class and I miss it every day.
It’s mostly yellow fever and wanting to feel special. Back home most are just normal and don’t stand out. In Korea, they stand out by simply existing. OP one consideration to have is whether the Pray For Los Angeles California Shirts but in fact I love this move is permanent or temporary. I would guess most are temporary and the biggest factor would be a sense of adventure. Why do korean college kids do work-study programs overseas flipping burgers in the summers or taking a year off when they can intern at a korean company? It’s not a perfect comparison but both sides are looking at benefits other than dollar per hour but both are not permanent. “As a American, I can’t understand why foreigners who can get paid more in their home countries would come to the USA and get a job that gives them less money.” There’s almost no financial reason to work in Korea if you’re an American citizen with marketable skills. For example, I’m mid-30’s with a BA from an average university and work at a large American firm. Gross pay is about $200K and I save $80K of that per year after taxes and living expenses are paid. Someone in my profession wouldn’t even gross $80K in Korea.
This isn’t a hard rule, but I noticed that foreigners that teach English in Korea tend to either (1) have non-financial incentives, such as fans of Korean culture, or (2) don’t have marketable skills and can’t get good jobs at home. I find that foreign women tend to fall into #1 and men tend to fall into #2. There’s even an acronym, “LBH” losers back home, that describes #2 perfectly. I think this applies to most foreigners, but not all. There are definitely high ranking executives poached by Hyundai, Kia, etc and offered extremely high pay. But this is a small minority. Majority are like you said #2 and have no degree or a worthless degree. I got the Pray For Los Angeles California Shirts but in fact I love this answer for you… cause theyre losers in their own country I am american.. so i see this all the time. Thats the non politically correct answer. Korea pays a lot, in fact I want to go back to Korea since I can earn at least 100k and everything is cheap and basically no taxes. Side bonus is that because of my bachelor’s in Kaist I felt very valuable, no one cares about it outside Korea
Life style I guess. I have a friend who earned equal salary here in Canada and Korea, he chose to live in Seoul. One thing I cannot stand is driving and parking in Seoul Looks like most of the Pray For Los Angeles California Shirts but in fact I love this comments are from Canadian/American perspectives, a lot who live in Seoul. I’d like to make a comment about foreign workers from SEA, who often toil in rural areas. I remember a few months ago hearing about this proposed bill the bill would allow employers to pay foreign workers the KRW equivalent of their home country wages, drastically reducing their already slim pay. Nominally to ease the burden on childcare expenses but in reality another way that factories and farms can exploit labor from SEA.
In this scenario, I totally agree with OP. Migrant workers in Korea face awful conditions, racism, and sometimes die because of it I don’t see any reason to move to an unwelcoming, potentially lethal country if the Pray For Los Angeles California Shirts but in fact I love this pay isn’t better. Lastly, I think many people have pointed out that OP has a very rosy opinion of American (“richer”) life. When I lived in Korea I ate better food and took many vacations. Even though I live and work in the US now, I can’t afford the same quality of food or hobbies. I guess I make a lot more now in Canada than I did in Korea – maybe about three times as much. But as others have said, the expenses here are significantly higher. When I lived in Korea, I went out more often, spent way more on nice dinners, even went on a couple of trips overseas (and two within Korea) and still was able to bank $12,000 in one year. In Canada, I pretty much never go out. I order take-away about once per month and otherwise cook all my meals. I don’t own a car and I only take a vacation (at most) once every other year. And my savings per year are roughly zero. Perhaps there is more to life than money. Try thinking about it from this lens and consider what else might be important to someone other than wage here vs. wage there.
Cost of living, guaranteed housing, and public transportation. Like if you live in Seoul, you don’t need a car and you save so much money on car insurance, car payments, etc. I have yet to see a major metropolitan city in the Pray For Los Angeles California Shirts but in fact I love this U.S, where they have a very reliable public transportation system as what they have in Seoul. way more things matter… the culture, a walkable neighborhood, fresh produce being available near you, trustworthy neighbors, diff company culture, etc. as an American, I’d def live in Korea for a bit. Move there permanently? ehh not with family back home. but I’d love to live there. Germany? fuck no. England? sure. Spain? no. diff cultures appeal to diff people… Why? I live in Compton California. I work in downtown LA 10 miles away for which I pay $300 a month in gasoline on top of a $500car note plus $100 insurance to sit in my car 90 minutes each way. I have to get in my car fearing my life or worry about being car jacked. I dodge homeless drug addicted maniacs as I drive, worry about warring gang bangers hoping I don’t get shot. My windows at home have bars on them and I pray there’s not a fire because they don’t open. My kids get bullied at school. It’s not a safe situation. I am moving to Korea for a job that pays half of what I make now because I want to be alive and not worry about dying everyday.
I’m a teacher in Arizona and almost 50% of my take home pays goes to rent a 1 bedroom apartment. I also had to let my car lease expire because I can’t afford a car. Yeah I make pre taxes $65k but I am struggling. In Korea they offered housing with the Pray For Los Angeles California Shirts but in fact I love this job. Cars are not needed because of the amazing public transportation. The food is slightly cheaper and I am able to save money in Korea because I’m not paying it all to rent. I can save even though I will be getting paid over 20k less. There is no job I could get quickly in Canada that would allow me the lifestyle I can afford in Korea. Everything is more expensive back in Canada – food, transportation, taxes, tuition, you name it. 8k USD a month pays the bills in the US, but it would be luxurious in SK. Wouldn’t need a car like I do here, and could eat out for every meal and never run out of money. Rent in my home country is 400% higher. There is no convenience in my home country. I am not a victim to petty crime in Korea. My job in my home country was super stressful compared to here. Yes I made like 4x more money before but my quality of life of much better here. Oh and my wife is here
Young people are leaving because life is just unaffordable. You can have your degree + 3 masters and still earn minimum wage while the Pray For Los Angeles California Shirts but in fact I love this rent expenses take out 2/3 of your salary. This is why many companies have their technologic centers in Spain. Safety is not bad but not great, you can get yourself into dangerous situation and also get your stuff stolen if you are not careful enough Healthcare is public, but long waiting lists make it unusable. You could wait 1 year for an urgent surgery. Might aswell just die. All of this is much better in Korea, and the salary is not much lower than in Spain. Even if you have a lot of money, Korea is simply much better. From my point of view, the biggest challenges in Korea are learning the language, making new friends and the insane work culture. The first 2 will likely cancel eachother, and I can avoid the third easily, so my choice is clear. I definitely get paid so much more in my country but I refuse to continue paying taxes to my blatantly corrupt3d governm3nt. agree. usa ajumma here. 100% anti-flex culture (my clothes mostly cost less than 10,000 rofl) pro-public transportation pro-affordable healthcare pro-no guns in school housing + job = amen As someone from the USA i can say that we arent all that richer than Korea. Some things may be cheaper but other things are higher. We pay taxes on everything.( food, ultilities, restaurants, retail items, property, health insurance, gas, etc). The crime rate soars here and cant even imagine what each day of new horror of gun shootings and robberies in the USA. Murders and rapes. I would love to live where i free safe each day. Even if i was paid a lower wage. Hope this helps in your answer.
I live in Japan, but I feel like its more or less the Pray For Los Angeles California Shirts but in fact I love this same reasons. I make much less money than I used to, but I have five times the amount of freedom because of the cost of living, I like to ski, a ski ticket in Japan is a tenth of the price in Japan then it is in America, gas is less, my car is less, and the snow is better and less crowded. I like the lifestyle hear better overall too, significantly less chaotic. And my rent is only 51,000 yen, pretty much nothing. And I’m moving soon, and it’s gonna be even less with way more space. And the opportunity to learn a language by complete and total immersion, frustrations aside, is a great opportunity. There is a saying here in Korea about this. We usually receive and send our worst. Obviously this is not always the case but I can definitely see why this may be a prevailing proverb. As someone who lived in Poland, then for 10+ years in London it’s few things (although I haven’t been here for long) that made me choose Korea (on top of being interested in the country for most of my life and having friends here)
Affordable housing (for what I pay here I get a big studio flat, back in London would get me a small room in a flat shared with 3 people or more) Peace of mind – my current company doesn’t do overtime, we work from office and leave work in there, in my previous job I worked overtime on a weekly basis and got health problems due to stress. Please note that my company is Korean and my coworkers are too – I just got lucky I guess Safety. As a woman I feel more safe here than in UK and Poland combined, where I would have to walk with my phone in both hands to not have it stolen. I am not scared to walk at night and can peacefully leave my bag in a cafe to go to the Pray For Los Angeles California Shirts but in fact I love this bathroom Of course there are also bad sides which I am still discovering but in general I like living here so far more than back in UK. Just in case – I work in IT so your standard office job I would say 🙂
I like it so far – I was considering moving back home at some point (Poland) but with the Pray For Los Angeles California Shirts but in fact I love this current state of things I decided that I want to try living somewhere else than my home country while I still can do it as I don’t have a partner/ family and my parents are still healthy. How are you liking Poland? I feel like the rent prices in major cities are getting worse than Seoul at this point 🥲 Though, I’ll tell you from my perspective as I’m Korean who moved to Poland a few years ago. Some context, I wanted to get some international experience and got this opportunity, and I’ve always wanted to live in Europe at least for a while so it matched. Poland is on paper a bit poorer than Korea, so I might earn a bit less (although after a few years here I already earn way more than I would in Korea) but at the same time life is cheaper, working culture is way more relaxed, pace of life is slower – I don’t need to work my ass off to afford travelling all around Europe, or even to afford a house or apartment. I simply like the culture, and it’s probably more so the other way around. I have lots of German/Polish/Dutch friends who would love to come to Korea at least for a while due to culture and k-dramas popping up everywhere. Even though for example median German would probably earn more in Germany.
In 2007 I made more in Korea than was being offered to starting teachers where I lived in the Pray For Los Angeles California Shirts but in fact I love this US. The healthcare was fantastic and back then we didn’t have Obamacare. Stayed for 3 years and saved up to go to engineering school. For adventure. And possibly cheaper living costs. I make 40 Canadian an hour which seems like a lot, but over half my paychecks go to rent, and more to food and bills. Rent in certain Canadian cities is extremely expensive even for professionals. I personally haven’t moved to Korea but I know Americans who have for the same reasons (adventure, lower cost of living, or a job) Well, I basically saved 80% of my income. Free flight and apartment. 2,000,000 krw I just need to feed myself, then the rest is bank. Plus Seoul is just a great place to live, especially for a young adult Not living in Korea, but it’s my plan to come over from France. Money isn’t an issue, I own my house in France, and make more than I can spend. The main reason is actually very simple for me, like being in a bar having to move to the toilet and not worry about leaving my phone on the table. Reliability of public transports. Food obviously. I don’t speak Korean (in learning) but I find Korea much easier to live than France.
First: I currently make just a little bit less compared to my home country salary – that is after taxes. Since my home country has one of the Pray For Los Angeles California Shirts but in fact I love this highest taxations in the world I can pretty much do my job in any country around the world and make a similar salary after taxes. Second: I think a lot of foreigners want to experience some sort of new culture and gain some insights in other parts of the world (that is the case for me) Third: As other people mentioned, we do not have the pressure to buy luxury goods as much as locals do, in order to keep up with being a “good/worthy person”. Fifth: Money is definitely not all that matters, maybe life and culture just suits one more in another country compared to their home country.
