My mom found out and forbade him to ever touch us again, because he was too rough (he didn’t ever again) I have had physical problems with my ankles, knees, hands, feet, hips, lower back and some others since then. I know for a fact that some of my worst physical problems stem from the abuse I received as a child. The kicks up the backside really did a number on my hips and spine I am not trying to clear my fathers name. He mentally and physically abused me to the point that I am living in pain 24/7 and have been since a young age. The physical abuse stoped, but the mental abuse continued well into my late teens He was a victim of abuse much much worse than me and his father was not just abused but right out tortured. But him abusing me was his choice. Just like it was my choice to slap my toddlers on the hands too hard (at all really). Like it was my choice to hit my 4 y/o daughter over the head. I did it once exactly. It was a common thing then, to smack a kid upside the head. But I have felt guilty ever since, rightfully so. It was my choice to do that and it was my choice to stop it. To never ever do it again. I still feel horrible thinking back on that. And I was pressured by everyone saying that’s a normal thing to do and you should do it. But it was my choice, I did that. I smacked her and it was so awful. No matter what anyone said I knew it was wrong right away

I can’t think for my father. I can’t read his mind. But he must have known how wrong it was. Especially coming from an abusive situation himself My parents did a lot of good, don’t get me wrong. My heart broke so many times when another dog was given away to someone else Don’t get pets if you can’t or don’t intend to actually care for them. Your kids will be heartbroken time and again. More than you realise Ps I had a massive fight with my father while we were on vacation in another country. In hindsight the entire hotel heard us (I’m sorry everyone, I was young and dumb and unaware, I was about 15 at the time and completely oblivious. I really am sorry for the racket). He will bake cakes (he used to be a pastry chef) free of charge -paying out of pocket for all ingredients- for anyone and he will spend 3 times the parking costs on gas to visit my siblings.
