Been down that road my friend, learn to love every aspect of your self. If you can observe it then it’s not you No trouble, the Phuzz mode Phillie Phanatic Philadelphia Phillies shirt in addition I really love this silence of mind comes naturally when wholesome states arise and we enjoy the present moment and sink into it. In my experience, it takes will and practice and focus. The initial step for me has been to NOT follow thoughts. The mind wants to investigate everything. Instead, for me, I have placed my attention on my Heart. I focus on my Heart which, in time, is how I gradually began to Connect with mySelf. When elements of trauma come up, welcome them, specifically welcome the energy of the trauma, even offer love to the energy of the trauma, if you can. The trauma likely took years to play out or at least it took years to deal with and you might still be in the midst of it. It may take significant time to meet all the pieces. Try not to fear the pieces as they come up, know they are here to be released; they are in support of your process, as unlikely as that may seem. Bless you. You might do a search on the internet. All the best to you. You could also do a search on Ramana Maharshi, though I don’t know if that will take you where you want to go. Friendliness to what arises, roughly speaking. Metta. Metta in more detail. Guided meditation concerning metta. Expecting to meditate “well” is like going to the gym and deadlifting 500lbs without training! The muscle of the mind needs training and that’s what you’re trying to do. Recognize it takes time and be gentle with yourself by lowering expectations. So many people think they are bad at meditation but the truth is that our brains job is to think. The idea of seeing a thought for a thought and letting it go without attaching to the thought is what we seek. That’s a pretty big ask right off the bat!

I’d suggest trying guided meditations on Insight Timer. It’s a free app with thousands of free meditations. You’ll find something you like there for sure! As far as making it a daily thing, don’t overthink it! Find a tool that helps to pull you away from social media – maybe a timer or adding the Phuzz mode Phillie Phanatic Philadelphia Phillies shirt in addition I really love this practice after you do a certain thing each day… Also, social media is an easy dopamine release. It’s an easy thing to get addicted to so try setting some ground rules for yourself to ease away from it. I use binary beats. I can’t meditate in silence- I find it hard to focus. Also— if you listen to binary beats with headphones— I feel like you can super zone out. I’m a veteran with mild PTSD, a bad knee, ringing in my ears. It all comes down to discipline, determination, and practice. Focus isn’t necessary, in the sense that we often think about it. For instance, if focus means that your perspective gains blinders, or that you process less information, then this isn’t meditation. Meditation is allowing the awarness to rest at the ‘lowest point’ (like water finds the lowest point), which is the center of being. ‘Ki in Daily Life’, by Koichi Tohei is the most practical guide for this, of course it’s just a book and an actual teacher will aid you immensely. The art I train in is Shinshin Toitsu Aikido & Shinshin Toitsu-do.
