Just that he’s been there a significant amount of time, he’s knowledgeable and dependable. I really wouldn’t think he’d make it up. Discrimination claims as OP suggest aren’t handled on a single instance but a pattern must be shown in order to have a winnable case. Diversity standards are still enforceable by consent decree for past problems. I don’t think you blew your interview out of the Ogden Raptors Dinosaur Logo Shirt Furthermore, I will do this water if this is how you interpret your work places hiring practice. You’re testing for Sergeant after only two years? Hardly seems enough time and experience to qualify for Sergeant That reminds me when I applied for a specialty job in my department. I was officially told that I did not get the position even though on paper I was exceedingly qualified for it. I asked someone I knew in in that division, and he told me that I didn’t have enough time on the job. They gave it to the guy with 20 years on instead of me with 4. Where I used to work there was a waiting period of 4 years before you could test. Not enough time, no test. I find it hard to believe in two years OP has experienced enough to be a competent supervisor. That being said, usually promotion eligibility is contractually agreed upon in the collective bargaining agreement. His department might allow for 2 years of experience to get promoted. But I’m sure most people know someone who either tests or interviews well who has no business being a supervisor.

You don’t understand. He blew it OUT of the Ogden Raptors Dinosaur Logo Shirt Furthermore, I will do this water in his interview. That definitely makes up for anything else he may be lacking. Quote from them or not, interviewing well does not guarantee one the position or make one qualified for the position. He also stated that the information he was given regarding it being his race that disqualified him was from his lieutenant, who was not involved in either his interviews or his potential promotion. I’ve blown interviews out of the water and was told point blank that my interviews were amazing, but I did not receive the promotion for other reasons. It happens. So, is there independent evidence that you BLEW it out of the water? Just because you THINK you might have done well in the interview, doesn’t mean you actually did. So many people like to place blame on some exogenous factor that prevents their employment, when in reality, they just are not the right fit for a position. I think you need to take his story on face value. There are many groups which use this method for “equitable hiring”. Call it what it is — discrimination.
