This is really surprising because Disney is know for being very careful about allergies (in my experience). Plus it read she used an epipen when the Notre Dame Fighting Irish College Football Playoff Quarterfinal 2025 Allstate Sugar Bowl Champions Victory Ahead shirt but in fact I love this reaction started and it still didn’t save her- what a terrifying story. I read about a case where they used 3 epipens on a child having an allergic reaction but they still died. Isn’t always successful, apparently. Definitely not. I had a patient where we used 5 almost in a row. Every 3-5 minutes, it would wear off and they would start suffocating again. It’s why you should always call 911 when anaphylaxis could be involved because most epi pen prescriptions only give you 2 (and lots of people keep one at work/school/grandparents, one at home). That patient had to go on an epi drip (continuous infusion of epinephrine). Epi pens are a great tool but anaphylaxis involves a lot of other chemicals that wreak havoc on your body.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish College Football Playoff Quarterfinal 2025 Allstate Sugar Bowl Champions Victory Ahead shirt: Unleash Your Dinosaur Style

This is exactly right, I have 3 on me after having used one 6 weeks ago. I brought 2 back from Australia a month ago, it’s sold over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish College Football Playoff Quarterfinal 2025 Allstate Sugar Bowl Champions Victory Ahead shirt Also,I will get this counter & it wasn’t much more than our co-pay! Should have bought 4. It can obviously be very serious…. So jealous is was so cheap! Some of my patients have had to pay full price (probably due to their deductible) and they’re $200 for a pair… and expire after a year No, it is way more than that (several hundred), our co-pay alone is 40.00 USD, I really should have bought more when I was there. Does an ambulance keep enough epi to get to a hospital? Or is there an emergency rescue procedure that opens the airways mechanically en route to the hospital? An ambulance should absolutely have enough epi to get someone to a hospital. Epinephrine is used for more than just allergic reactions. It’s usually given every few minutes to people during a cardiac arrest but in a different route/dosage than an epi pen. If someone is unresponsive to epi they’d either intubate normally or if it was severe enough (and they have the training) they could do a cricothyrotomy to establish an airway Epi is the first line medication and the only one to actually stop anaphylaxis, so presumably they keep enough for this exact scenario. They also have oxygen and breathing treatments (like albuterol), monitors to check your vital signs, stethoscopes and assessment skills to see if you’re wheezing (and might need more medication/epi). Plus they can legally run all the red lights.
Of course due to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish College Football Playoff Quarterfinal 2025 Allstate Sugar Bowl Champions Victory Ahead shirt Also,I will get this ambulance cost, we had people try and drive which MAYBE you can do if you live exceptionally close, but imagine you’re driving like a maniac while your loved one is in the passenger seat and then you also get into an accident. Now you’re both injured and their airway is starting to close. An ambulance will always be best, even if they only have a few doses of epi. Theoretically they could intubate someone, but with swelling of an airway being involved, the concern is if you “miss” and now it’s fully closed. They’d still try but avoiding intubation at all for stuff like this is ideal. Is there anything available past intubation or is that the end? Is a trach a possibility or is it too far up from where the airway is typically closed? If the airway was completely closed a cricothyroidotomy is the answer, it’s below the thyroid cartilage below where the soft tissue swelling would be. But it’s a procedure that I don’t look forward to doing as an ER doctor.

Thank you! I’ll ask you the Notre Dame Fighting Irish College Football Playoff Quarterfinal 2025 Allstate Sugar Bowl Champions Victory Ahead shirt Also,I will get this same question I asked someone else: in the event the person has previous airway scarring/trauma from a tracheotomy, how would one typically proceed? Also, what could/would the complications to a closing airway be if the person has had a previous hemiglossectomy? (I’m not taking anything you’re saying as personal medical advice. You’re just another person on Reddit to me because I have zero way to verify your medical school, etc. and I don’t want or need to. Just wanted to throw out that info. I also have ZERO intention of ever pretending to be a doctor without official, proper medical training. Just wanted to get all of that out of the way.) I know you haven’t done it yet but I have faith in you. You’ve trained for this. Try to calm your mind and follow your training. You’ll have people around to assist and potentially guide you. You’re going to do great. Believe in you.
Believe it or not, they never told us in medical school this possibility, at least I don’t recall it being emphasised to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish College Football Playoff Quarterfinal 2025 Allstate Sugar Bowl Champions Victory Ahead shirt Also,I will get this point of “please note, still step when you get to the adrenaline edit: step it still may still fail”. I also learned from Reddit that measles can delete your immunity history though after digging into that, looks like they discovered that after I finished medical school. That patient had to go on an epi drip (continuous infusion of epinephrine). Epi pens are a great tool but anaphylaxis involves a lot of other chemicals that wreak havoc on your body. Oh my god. I can’t imagine what an epinephrine drop feels like, since that’s just a continuous supply of adrenaline. Epinephrin doesn’t fix an allergic reaction, it just essentially opens your throat so you can breath and take an antihistamine like benadryl. The epipen itself just buys you time, but will wear off. I worked at Disney. Can confirm allergies were taken super seriously. For example regular staff couldn’t even touch a trey if it was made for an allergy order. We had to wait to get a manager with gloves to hand it to the customer. I wonder if this case has something to do w/ this being at a Disney Springs restaurant – which maybe is contracted out or something? Or had different standards? Seems like a lot of things went wrong and had terrible consequences. I’m one of the people where an epipen won’t keep me alive – it’ll just make my throat close a bit slower. Last allergic reaction, I had to have 2 epinephrine shots and that barely got me to the hospital. I had to be on IV steroids and epinephrine and massive doses of benadryl for 6 hours until my allergen worked its way out of my system, could barely breath the entire time.
And allergies can and do get worse with each exposure. My first anaphylactic reaction was nowhere near as bad as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish College Football Playoff Quarterfinal 2025 Allstate Sugar Bowl Champions Victory Ahead shirt Also,I will get this most recent one. It’s not meant to cure the anaphylactic reaction. It’s more for buying a little more time to get help. Around 10-20 minutes tops. My gramma mentioned having a soy protein intolerance (not the same as soy) and they wouldn’t let her touch the bread bc there was soy in it. She was pissed. Wonder what happened to cause this I ended up at the hospital due to allergic reactions on a cruise, eating on the ship which I was assured was aware of my allergies and would take care of it all. Yes, Disney (or cruise lines) or any other services that deal with crowds massively should be good at fielding requests like allergen-free meals. But it’s pretty clear that they are not. I can only hope that the lawsuits and the bad press will be enough to changes habits. But if not, I hope that state or federal legislation will help too. I don’t think the restaurant is owned by Disney. I think it’s independently owned but operates at Disney Springs. Disney Cruise Line actually asks for your dinner order the night before so they can prepare it from scratch for you. I don’t know how other cruise lines do it.
We have a son with tree nut and shellfish allergies. DCL made us pre-select his meals the Notre Dame Fighting Irish College Football Playoff Quarterfinal 2025 Allstate Sugar Bowl Champions Victory Ahead shirt Also,I will get this night before every time, including lunch for Castaway Cay where they don’t even have any nuts or shellfish in the kitchen. They do not joke around with allergies. for Royal Caribbean, it is the same. But you are right, there are restaurants on board that aren’t owned by RC, and that is where the largest risks are. I’ve actually witnessed a missed allergen at WDW. At the Sci-Fi Dine In, a couple seated in front of me (I was sitting in row 2 of the car) had very serious allergies. I think what happened was a sesame seed was found on the plate. They weren’t upset but told the waiter. The chef ended up coming out and apologized more than I’ve ever seen someone apologize. He said their entire meal was free, had new food brought out, and made sure everything was perfect. It’s a lot of pressure putting life and death in the hands of restaurant workers, to be honest. I don’t think anyone wants to cause an allergic reaction.
I can only imagine that apology! WDW employees are insanely dedicated to making sure your experience is perfect. I went a few years ago and I’m still kind shocked at the Notre Dame Fighting Irish College Football Playoff Quarterfinal 2025 Allstate Sugar Bowl Champions Victory Ahead shirt Also,I will get this level of service we received from every employee at the park. I’ve taken several “luxury” vacations and honestly nothing tops the service at Disney. It’s a good thing because of how expensive WDW is but it was genuinely mind blowing. Idk. I wonder if lawsuits will just make restaurants and cruise lines make fewer accommodations and just not promise their food to be allergen free. I’m gluten free and a lot of restaurants will serve gluten free dishes but make the disclaimer that they don’t promise there isn’t cross contamination. I almost wonder if lawsuits like this will push restaurants more in that direction.
considering that 6% of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish College Football Playoff Quarterfinal 2025 Allstate Sugar Bowl Champions Victory Ahead shirt Also,I will get this population has food allergies and that this percentage is increasing, I expect that there will be increasing pressure for restaurants to not neglect allergy-sufferers. it’s not just the sufferer, but their families, their friend groups, and their colleagues. But yes, I do expect that some restaurants will just say “we cannot accommodate you”, and frankly I’d rather get that than a “right of course we can accommodate you!” followed by getting sick because in effect, they could not. Those statements do NOT relieve food producers or restaurants of responsibility or liability to accommodate folks with food allergies and take all reasonable and foreseeable precautions to prevent allergenic cross contamination. I would hope that if a person is deathly allergic to some foods they keep themselves safe by not eating in busy restaurants. Why put your life in the hands of low paid and overworked workers? They may be well intentioned and they may try to follow protocol but people make errors all the time.
Yeah having worked in restaurants there are just so many potential points of failure even if everyone is really trying and cares a lot Yep, I absolutely would not eat out if it could kill me. I worked at a restaurant where they accidentally served an elderly man with heart problems caffeinated coffee when he requested decaf and it caused an incident. An easy mistake to make when working double shifts at a crazy busy restaurant, I can’t imagine how it must be as a line cook. And Americans with severe allergies, please do not eat out in Europe – especially Switzerland, they have absolutely no concept of food allergies here & you can’t sue like in the Notre Dame Fighting Irish College Football Playoff Quarterfinal 2025 Allstate Sugar Bowl Champions Victory Ahead shirt Also,I will get this US. (Source: American living abroad) And then to imagine all of the thousands of things a restaurant has going on all at the same time and all the things that could go wrong. It would be too scary for me I think
I have celiac disease that also includes multiple other protein types, and there’s very very few places I will eat out at. I also work in healthcare and have coworkers who come to me when their patient has a restricted diet because they don’t always know all the Notre Dame Fighting Irish College Football Playoff Quarterfinal 2025 Allstate Sugar Bowl Champions Victory Ahead shirt Also,I will get this sneaky ways some ingredients are named… if healthcare folks are stumped by it, how can I expect food service workers to know? Not trying to be a dick but me personally if I could kill over from something like that I would just not eat out ever. That would obviously suck but I would never trust people working on autopilot at shit jobs they hate with my life. here’s the thing. Even if you stay home and cook every meal (and trust me, that would be extremely education-, career- and social life-limiting…), food cross-contamination can happen in the products you stock in your pantry before they get to you – either during their production or anywhere during the food supply chain. So despite reading the ingredients of the food you buy and watching for allergen-free labels, and cooking everything from home, you still stand a chance to get an allergic reaction, which could potentially kill you. There’s no such thing as totally risk-free. So, to a degree, you have to accept that you need to trust an imperfect system, which, yes, will include unmotivated or rushed workers and workflows that need serious improvement or complete rethinking. I’m a scientist and I work in this sector, so I see first-hand how scary it can all be (and I carry my epipens with me everywhere I go when I work, I assure you…).
But I believe that there is a need to create allergen-free spaces and to hold entities accountable for it. Hospitals are an example, but so would care facilities, or major hospitality services. Edit: Also, yes, I am often afraid to go out. New restaurants are always a potential concern, although I am glad to say that near my house there are some with whom I’ve formed relationships and I’d say that I trust them as much as I’d trust anybody else to cook for me. While I’m sad about the Notre Dame Fighting Irish College Football Playoff Quarterfinal 2025 Allstate Sugar Bowl Champions Victory Ahead shirt Also,I will get this fact that I can’t eat certain foods anymore, I’m grateful that at least I got to know what they tasted like as a kid, so I know what to spit out if I accidentally get something I can’t eat. Assuming it’s not in the breading (aka no sketchy fried places) – I would never be able to tell that. A lot of fried places share the same oil so if I get fried fish or onion rings for example, I know the restaurant can’t guarantee that it wasn’t used to fry something else.
Then why is all the Notre Dame Fighting Irish College Football Playoff Quarterfinal 2025 Allstate Sugar Bowl Champions Victory Ahead shirt Also,I will get this branded candy on main street not penut safe? Everything except a made in mexico lollipop was cross contaminated. I mean, thank you for the label, but its a kick in the gut when you have to tell your child that all the yummy things they’re reaching out for is not safe for them to have. Ive worked in a Disney kitchen before and they take allergies VERY seriously. There is a staff member who is specifically trained to deal with allergies. They have their own kitchen appliances that only they are allowed to touch and a big book of every ingredient in the kitchen so they know exactly what is in what food. Normally, allergies are fairly simple and its noted on the receipt. The receipt is intercepted by the allergy coordinator who preps the meal. If requested, the allergy coordinator will come out to the table to talk with the guest directly about their concerns. Long story short, someone must have royally fucked up with this order.
Well it looks like this was a third party restaurant which may or may not have had the Notre Dame Fighting Irish College Football Playoff Quarterfinal 2025 Allstate Sugar Bowl Champions Victory Ahead shirt Also,I will get this same strict protocol. It’s unclear just based on this article. If they did have this strict protocol than it’s even more terrifying because even with all this it wasn’t enough. it was Raglan Road, which is one of the most popular restaurants at Disney Springs, the shopping district that exists outside of the parks. I cant find where for sure if its privately owned or Disney owned, however, its website does have the same Disney allergy disclaimer About our allergy-friendly menu items: Guests may consult with a chef or special diets trained Cast Member before placing an order. We use reasonable efforts in our sourcing, preparation and handling procedures to avoid the introduction of the named allergens into allergy-friendly menu choices. While we take steps to prevent cross-contact, we do not have separate allergy-friendly kitchens and are unable to guarantee that a menu item is completely free of allergens. Allergy-friendly offerings are reliant on supplier ingredient labels. We cannot guarantee the accuracy of the contents of each food item. Allergen advisory statements (e.g., “may contain”) are not regulated and therefore not taken into consideration when developing allergy-friendly meals. It is ultimately our Guests’ discretion to make an informed choice based upon their individual dietary needs.
Huh.. this is all so interesting because I have a shellfish allergy and when I mentioned it at raglan road they made it a whole process. When our food came out it was announced (not publicly but still) that there was a shellfish allergy and my food specifically had a flag in it with “allergy” written on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish College Football Playoff Quarterfinal 2025 Allstate Sugar Bowl Champions Victory Ahead shirt Also,I will get this side. Oh thanks for finding this. This is what I would expect any restaurant to have since there is just so much happening in kitchens. I can’t imagine this lawsuit is going to really go anywhere with this, right? I just read the whole article and there’s absolutely no details. Apparently the family asked about “allergens” and was assured the food was “allergy free”. This article is badly written. There are other articles out there written by people more intelligent than Chat GPT. It sounds like she ordered food that normally has dairy and nuts but for a dairy and nut free version. She somehow got served it with dairy and nuts. So looks like somebody in the kitchen messed up or it had cross contamination:
The waiter reportedly confirmed with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish College Football Playoff Quarterfinal 2025 Allstate Sugar Bowl Champions Victory Ahead shirt Also,I will get this chef that Tangsuan’s meal could be made allergen free. “The waiter unequivocally assured them that the food would be allergen free,” the lawsuit states, noting that Tangsuan ordered broccoli and corn fritter, scallops and onion rings. “When the waiter returned with Kanokporn Tangsuan’s food, some of the items did not have allergen free flags in them and Kanokporn Tangsuan and Jeffrey Piccolo once again questioned the waiter who, once again, guaranteed the food being delivered to Kanokporn Tangsuan was allergen free,” the lawsuit alleges. Really surprising. Both of our kids have nut allergies and Disney is far and away the best so far about documentation and prep. Even popcorn vendors had information about the exact allergens their product had in it. Employees of Raglan go through casting to get hired and are 2nd party employees. So Disney might legally not be off the hook.
2nd party employees get a “green id” (1st party gets blue). These provide you with benefits at Disney. 2nd party gives you park access, among other things. more than 50k. the Notre Dame Fighting Irish College Football Playoff Quarterfinal 2025 Allstate Sugar Bowl Champions Victory Ahead shirt Also,I will get this total amount isn’t disclosed. But for a young educated high professional, it’s going to be huge. Over 50k. When you file suit the venue depends on the amount sought in damages. 50k is likely the highest threshold where they filed. Rest assured the amount they’ll seek will be in the millions The complaint, which names the restaurant and Disney Parks and Resorts as defendants, alleges multiple counts of negligence. It seeks more than $50,000 in damages. I feel terrible for the family. I also have a nut allergy, and I once had an anaphylactic reaction because I was served a vegan version of something which used cashew butter instead of egg, or something like that. I’m very fortunate to have survived; the doctor mentioned how it could have been so much worse if I had gotten to the hospital just 10-15 minutes later. Both my spouse and I needed trauma therapy after that event. I order something things that don’t contain the things I’m sensitive to, and confirm at ordering and when the food arrives that it has none of those things. If I taste a hint of those things, I’m done with that meal; I’ll eat something 100% safe somewhere else. I can’t imagine trying to navigate this when the allergen will kill you. I can’t imagine putting my life in the hands of overworked and low-paid restaurant staff. That’s just begging for trouble. If food made for allergies usually comes with a flag in this restaurant, and mine came without a flag, no way in hell i am going to eat it.
This is a dark thought, but, I’ve been listening to too many true crime podcasts..what if the Notre Dame Fighting Irish College Football Playoff Quarterfinal 2025 Allstate Sugar Bowl Champions Victory Ahead shirt Also,I will get this restaurant wasn’t actually responsible? What if there was strife in the marriage, & the husband slipped some dairy or some nut meal into her food? An almost perfect crime..lots of witnesses & someone to blame, & to sue. If I was a doctor with that severe of an allergy, would I want my food potentially sharing a fry basket & oil with something that could easily end my life..? Idk. On one hand the restaurant insisted multiple times it was allergen free, which maybe they aren’t able to actually promise. On the other hand, if I had a deadly allergy I don’t know if I would trust any restaurants. I just have a gluten sensitivity (not deadly at all) and I know that when my food is being prepared out my sight I’m taking a risk. I think the restaurant is probably negligent here since they assured her multiple times, but I also just don’t see how someone eats out somewhere that serves something that could kill me.
