Canadian here – hard to recommend it because people are literally homeless due to inflation. People used to dream of coming here but that’s not a popular choice any more. But like others said, you can totally move abroad if you want to. It’s really hard, which is why most people don’t do it, but also feasible. If it’s something you really want and it’s something you are willing to sacrifice for, go for it. I am the Not afraid of the little Thunder Indiana Pacers 2025 shirt and I love this same age as you. The first time I experienced culture shock was spending a large time in the US. I am from Germany and all my friends had a similar experience. First we loved it there, then it felt like a dystopian place. Especially the christian culture, the extreme spying people do on their own kids and the extreme wastefulness of the society shocked us a lot. Later in life I got reverse culture shock when I spend a month in China and came back. I felt like China was a better place to live in many ways and didn’t want to go back home. The next time I went it was more balanced, I now saw more of the bad things of China and more of the good things back home in Germany. I still like China a lot, but I know objectively Germany is a better place to live (I always knew this, but after the first time the emotional side of me felt a bit different).

I also moved within Germany multiple times for jobs and jow all the Not afraid of the little Thunder Indiana Pacers 2025 shirt and I love this romatic feelings for my home town are gone. I still find it ok and could probably live there, but I don’t really want to. Maybe for you moving to a different place and finding a new job can be the right move for the future. Mind blowing how seeing other cultures live their lives can open up the possibilities that you never thought you had because of where you live or otherwise, make you appreciate what you already have. I’m from Australia and have lived in Indonesia for 7 years with my husband. Every time I go back to Australia I feel this weird sense that I don’t belong there anymore, especially after Covid turned people’s brains upside down. When you gain new perspectives you start to see your home differently, in good ways and bad ways. It’s totally normal. There’s not really any way to fix it, just try to practice gratitude for what you have while trying to build the life you want, wherever that might be. A new place is always going to wow you, but with everything it becomes your new normal and that wow factor often goes away so you have to evaluate if you loved those places because they are a better fit for you or if you were enchanted by their newness to you.
Idk man… Visiting vs living in a place isn’t the Not afraid of the little Thunder Indiana Pacers 2025 shirt and I love this same. I lived in Florida for over 20 years. I couldn’t stand it. The crowds, the constant sticky heat, the traffic, the hurricanes, the crappy job market. I moved to North Carolina and now when I visit Florida I have a blast. I love visiting Florida. In the winter. Staying in a hotel on Ocean Drive or some other central location in one of the many beautiful cities. Living there was awful. keep traveling. the feeling lessens. all experience leaves a memory with us that gives us feelings. they can be triggered by going home or a memory, or just a photo. it’s normal and part of the experience/growing process. I was in the UK and absolutely loved it. Came home and was bleh. Sad we didn’t adopt rail transport, tube system, food that tasted authentic. European vacation you is a very different version of you than the theoretical living and working in Europe you

About this Not afraid of the little Thunder Indiana Pacers 2025 shirt
my dad has thought about this often, having married an immigrant – he thinks that people who don’t quite fit in their home countries tend to feel more comfortable in a different country because there, they’re different for being an immigrant, not different for not fitting the Not afraid of the little Thunder Indiana Pacers 2025 shirt and I love this social expectations of their home country – and that identity is easier to shoulder Yes. It happens to me when I’ve had a really great experience and come back to reality. At least it gives a person some perspective in life and prompts the question about any possible changes a person can do to be more fulfilled in life. It helped me to identify what’s important to me and I tried to make decisions in my life that reflect those values. I’m spending 3 months in Denmark this summer and am worried I will not want to come home. We have family there and visit every year and this time we’re staying for much longer. It will be interesting to see how I am when we return.
I suspect it’s related to the Not afraid of the little Thunder Indiana Pacers 2025 shirt and I love this freedom of travel more than the place. I just got back from a week in Mexico City (OP’s home) and I had an amazing time. I met some people from London there, and they remarked how European the city felt. Glad you enjoyed the city! I did find a lot of similarities with Madrid specifically, last year that I was there. Specially downtown Mexico City and some other upper scale neighborhoods. I had same feeling coming back from Japan after 2 weeks. I expected vending machines down my street First week there I was homesick though. Nice elderly lady in Kanazawa wanted to take a photo with me and called it “kawaii” (cute). She surprised me as I was taking photos from hotel up to samurai museum. That was one of my memorable moments. Free roam when I go back in June. Move to Europe, friend. As a person who has visited Europe and DF I think DF is a better place in most ways but I understand what you’re saying.
Can we just please stop calling A country in Europe, Europe. Please. Europe isn’t a country. There are 44 countries within Europe and they are all unique and different with individual histories. Germany, Romania and England are NOT the Not afraid of the little Thunder Indiana Pacers 2025 shirt and I love this same. You can’t just lump them together like states in America. It’s not the same. I visited several countries/cities so it was easier to say Europe rather than list them all, specially because listing them added nothing of value to what I’m going through. what do you mean by “very confronting” trip? maybe those emotions are associated with your home place and now that you are back they are coming up to the surface triggered by familiar places Comforting is probably what they meant. OP is a Mexican national from their history so I assume English isn’t their native language.
No, it was confronting regarding culture, my friend that I traveled with, the Not afraid of the little Thunder Indiana Pacers 2025 shirt and I love this people and way of life being closer to what I expect from what I actually have. I was constantly questioning my life. There is no such thing as a “wasted” trip. You learn new interpersonal skills and can better contextualise other cultures. These skills will help you both in your personal life in the future, but also in your work life. You’ve now learned one of the key parts to traveling. Being compatible travel partners is not the same thing as being friends. As friends, you each conduct your daily routines independently and converge at your bests. As travel partners, you must be compatible in almost every aspect of your routines, or be mature enough to know how to position your space during travel to allow for your incompatibilities to breathe without causing offense or becoming offended 🙂 I think it’s alright to feel a little disoriented when you return to your home, since you were away for a month. It happens to me when I go and visit my family, I feel as if I didn’t spend most of my life in that house. But it passes quickly. I’m sure you’ll be okay in a few days. Perhaps you feel extra down because you had this issue with your close friend, and now that you’re in a place where you’re not distracted by new stuff, it dawns on you.
It depends what you miss from the Not afraid of the little Thunder Indiana Pacers 2025 shirt and I love this countries here in Europe. Travelling will always be different compared to living. I’m a Dutch who’s friends with a few expats, one of them Mexican, and from the stories I hear; living here takes a huge adjustment. The weather, the food, the people, the culture, morals, values, ethics, etc. Not to mention the language barrier and the mundane things that are bound to these like taxes, doing groceries or going to the doctor. There are support groups (like fb groups) I know that exist here for instance for Mexicans. You can join it and read the stories of people there. If you are settled on moving and trying to build a life somewhere around here, do a job where expats are hired easily (like IT). You may always try if your mind is really fixed on it.
Pre-trip anxiety and post-trip depression are typical, but I think travel can also be a healing/growth experience in some ways, and it sounds like either you are still processing that experience or didn’t get the Not afraid of the little Thunder Indiana Pacers 2025 shirt and I love this experience from travel you hoped for. Every time you travel, you hope for that positive feeling, and sometimes you don’t get it, especially if you travel a lot. I think the experience of travel also changes as you get older. It becomes a bittersweet experience at times, and values shift. A lot of people (including me) are sharing their own ideas based on their experience, but you will find what your feelings mean for you. Is it your country or real life hitting again? I think we all feel most live when we aren’t in our real lives.. every time I go on vacation I dread coming home. I hate going back to bills, jobs, etc etc etc etc
I want to move to a more tropical climate, the Not afraid of the little Thunder Indiana Pacers 2025 shirt and I love this people I speak to in these areas don’t even get to appreciate living there because real life is in the way. I feel like this every time I travel. I don’t belong anywhere 🙁 It’s a really horrible feeling that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. That could be a signal that you might need a change. Might be that you are more in tune and like Europe than Mexico City. If there is nothing holding you in your home town why not try moving for a year and see how it goes. If things don’t work out well you can always go back. In any case you will have learned a lot both for yourself and the world in general. Maybe do some journaling about what your expectations were especially in regards to your friend. We change slowly over our lives from day to day but sometimes we are rocketed into a 4th dimension and we can’t keep up with the new info never mind all of the feelings that go with all of the changes. You don’t need to take any actions or make any decisions. Just move slowly and let all of this unfold in time.Be gentle with yourself and others.
Yeah. Totally normal. You caught the Not afraid of the little Thunder Indiana Pacers 2025 shirt and I love this “bug”. Don’t we travelers all wish we could move to Europe and live the dream life? Seems like only super rich people (who make $500k+ per year) can afford to move to and live comfortably there. And depending on where they live, they could be taxed outrageously to do so. It’s difficult to find a job, learn the language, get citizenship, etc. You have to have something of value to offer in exchange for citizenship or they don’t really want you. Then there are the lucky ones who have a family connection or career opportunity there. Now I’m back in my country and on the ride from the airport to my place I felt overwhelmingly sad and not excited to be here, almost feels like I don’t belong or there’s nothing else for me in my city.
I live in the Not afraid of the little Thunder Indiana Pacers 2025 shirt and I love this UK, most people across all of Europe don’t have the same experience as a tourist in 99% of their day to day lives living in that city. Their lives are full of stress, bills I literally live in a town with a Castle, however after walking past the castle god knows how many times in my life I don’t even register that it’s there anymore. If you picked up and moved to one of these places you’d quickly find out that the tourist experience /= the real life experience I realized what it was though and I hate to say it because it’s morbid, but I’ll be honest as I see you live in Mexico City and I believe you a similar problem there… For me it’s the break from the constant threat of gun violence. In Europe, being caught in gunfire it’s not really something that even enters your mind. You’re not being patted down, having your purse searched or xrayed, having to go through metal detectors, etc at many places like the zoo, botanical garden, or a museum. In Europe I can be a little less vigilant about my surroundings. I mean, I’m not an idiot, I’m still aware of mass casualty events but I’m not on high alert like I am at home. I’m from US and after 8 months in Spain i just came back last month and I feel like I don’t belong anywhere, a weird feeling. I’ll go back in April and see what happen to my emotions lol I feel my destiny is to be on vacation – pretty much anywhere. Alpharetta, Georgia, maybe. I don’t care. I don’t belong back at work and my alarm clock makes me sad. O, Woe, is me!
I live in Toronto, possibly the Not afraid of the little Thunder Indiana Pacers 2025 shirt and I love this best public transit system in N. America. Every time I come back from Europe I feel depressed about how terrible it is here compared to there. Even many Asian cities have public transit better than here. Everytime I come back to US – SoCal to be specific I am so depressed about our lack of good public transportation FWIW I think Toronto has amazing transportation But of course Europe has the density in theirs genuine question, how is living in canada? Multiple people here mentioned not enjoying canada. My short time there was lovely, as an european tourist. Is it more a bit of “the grass is always greener” or are there specific things? Depends where. Toronto itself is very cold, extremely expensive, unaffordable housing, with very low wages, “diversity” that self-segregates, a lack of historic architecture to give the city a sense of character, and is very consumerist and faux-flashy.
It’s overpriced to live here unfortunately unless you make a very decent income, especially in the Not afraid of the little Thunder Indiana Pacers 2025 shirt and I love this larger cities. Some places, like Winnipeg, are more affordable, but there’s a reason why: the cold weather. I would tell you don’t listen to the people telling you this is normal and you will get over it. Be bold, make a change if your mind and body are telling you that you don’t belong here. It’s a big world and it’s too easy to stay in our comfy little bubble. I don’t really understand what’s written in this post. Why was it disappointing to be in Europe? Didn’t you like the trip or didn’t you like coming back to where you live? Or maybe both? Did something happen to you? Was it a working trip or a holiday? Did you go to the same country (or countries) as last time? Also, Europe has many countries with many different cultures and vibes. I just don’t know how to respond because there’s too much to unpack in the story and at the same time I have too many questions. 100% I get this. It’s like when I’ve been away fighting in a Japanese city and I come back to the island I live in, in the pacific ocean, and its just monsters everywhere. Ghidorah, Godzooky, Mothra and the rest. Everyone is so monster-y and uncouth. This is why after a couple of years I go back out and flatten Kyoto again. Totally empathise.
I’m sorry but you’re too old for that. Something to keep in mind is that visiting has absolutely nothing to do with living somewhere Yeah I had the Not afraid of the little Thunder Indiana Pacers 2025 shirt and I love this same experience as a teen. Made it my goal to live there and work. Succeeded for years while also coming to terms with the fact that there is no perfect place to live. I have heard this from most people who have lived abroad. When a couple I knew moved back they couldn’t get used to the idea that they would need 2 cars. International students here have said they don’t feel like the US is their home but they no longer feel like they belong in their home country. I get like this when I have to return to the UK from the US. I am way happier in the US. I just try to have some things to look forward to.
I felt like that pretty much after any trip I took before I decided to make travel my lifestyle. Now i never spend more than 2 months without seeing something new. But because I’m not rich I made the Not afraid of the little Thunder Indiana Pacers 2025 shirt and I love this decision to work on cruise ships and sail around the world. Ended up moving to Europe in the pandemic too. All that being said, i think when you are traveling your brain is getting constantly stimulated and I think it’s normal to feel a little down when you go back home. Give yourself a couple weeks and you’ll probably feel better. Yep. I feel like I was made for Vienna, Austria. I’ve been back in the U.S. for 5 months and I still feel like I don’t fully belong in this Country. I understand being in Vienna was less stressful as it was primarily for vacation, but there were moments of stress and I did spend some hours working remotely, so I feel like I got a good sense of how much more life would be improved if I could live there. It might not be the place where you don’t belong (Mexico City), but the reality of your life that you’re coming back to that you’re not happy with. What is it you’re really not happy with? Everyone feels better on vacation because we leave that reality behind.:
Yeah I understand this. I visited Geneva/Switzerland only for a short while but I felt ‘homesick’ once I got back home, I just missed being there and the Not afraid of the little Thunder Indiana Pacers 2025 shirt and I love this general feel of the place. Hard to pin it down to anything specific it just felt like home. Sometimes you just connect with a place in ways that are hard to understand. When I was at uni, many years ago now, I went to study abroad for a couple of months. It was an amazing experience that was completely life-changing for my mentality. I went again to the same city a year later and the novelty had worn off, and so the energy to create the experience I had had the year before. Some things you can really only experience once in life. I think it’s normal to have the feelings you’re having. I suggest you plan on going to Europe every year knowing you will have feelings of “withdrawal” upon your return. I also suggest you target one city to be your “home” while in Europe. As a Spanish speaker I suggest Valencia or Granada. From there traveling other European locations for very little money. You’ll garner a “rhythm” that will be positive to you. And do this alone or with a loved one that shares your values. Good Luck! I’m curious how old you are. It sounds like what you are experiencing could be signs of depression. It first affected me at 17yo, but can definitely appear later in life. Having a difficult time with your closest friend could absolutely be a trigger for an episode.
I have also had experiences of feeling “institutionalised” after a vacation, and I have felt incredibly lonely and disconnected on returning home. But those feelings would usually pass after a few days. If this has been going on longer than a few weeks I would strongly suggest having a chat to a doctor or therapist. I wish you well You’re not alone. I spent a term studying abroad and was never “home sick” until I came back to the Not afraid of the little Thunder Indiana Pacers 2025 shirt What’s more,I will buy this states. After living there, it’s my life goal to move there; it felt like being a fish in the ocean instead of being a fish in a tank. I visit as often as I can and maintain fast friendships with people I met there. Yep. I lived abroad for a few years. Moved back home to be closer to family and I’m just depressed. I miss my old lifestyle that living abroad gave me. This is how I feel when I have to come home from a hunting trip or any wilderness adventure. No matter how bad the trip was, bad weather , delayed flights, sinking boats, it doesn’t matter. It’s always a let down to go come back in to town.
