Edit: OP also make sure you have a really good raincoat! Congratulations, the Grinch Dallas Cowboys Logo Helmet Christmas Shirt But I will love this Netherlands is a really awesome place Fair, in Europe I’ve only been to Italy and the UK everything (food, clothes, accommodations – normal things, not luxury) was surprisingly cheap to me. I always vaguely thought Europe would be expensive across the board. But I also live in San Francisco so perhaps my perspective is skewed here. Petite is not a big market in the Netherlands – as Dutch people are some of the tallest in the world. Belgium and France are better for petite, but still probably not as much choice as the US. Clothes are also more expensive in all those countries. You look like an adult to me already. If you want to dress more formal for a specific purpose that’s one thing but you don’t need to change your style, I think it’s great.
Grinch Dallas Cowboys Logo Helmet Christmas Shirt: Embrace Your Uniqueness
Avoid things that are very trendy with teenagers and you’ll stop looking like one. Judging by these photos, I would avoid baggy pants and pants with a freyed hem. Go for straight but narrow leg pants, or tapered leg pants. If you add some trousers instead of jeans that’ll also look more serious. Button up shirts as well. Maybe avoid tucking the Grinch Dallas Cowboys Logo Helmet Christmas Shirt But I will love this sweater into your pants. I want to point out, though, that there’s nothing wrong with your style and it’s totally fine to continue looking like this for the rest of your life, if that’s what you like. Love your style! As a short 43 year old Dutch woman working in stem, no need to fix your style! I wear my docs all the time. If you do want to go the wide legged pants look, just get some you like and have them shortened at a tailor. Costs you around 10-20 euros in the Netherlands and I do that always. Honestly I think the clothes are fine and adult enough. It’s the poses that make you seem young and energetic. You need to be worn down by disappointment and exhaustion for a few years, then you will feel like an adult no matter what you wear. 🙂
In all seriousness, your style just seems like you. I think your clothes are appropriate. You seem like someone I’d like to be friends with. Now if you’re asking for more professional, that’s a different story. Less denim more blouses, or silkier fabrics. Ok idk who in your life is toxic enough to tell you you dress like a child or immature, nah. I think all of the Grinch Dallas Cowboys Logo Helmet Christmas Shirt But I will love this outfits look adult, albeit casual. Maybe the question you really want to ask is how can you dress up like fancier than casual. Btw I love your style Your tops and sweaters are quite nice. Try swapping the denim out for tailored styles. Kinda vice versa too… like, if you wanna slide into jeans for the day pair it with a blouse or button-up. Don’t be afraid to pick the oversized stuff in the case of; tuck the front in if you want to show off a belt buckle, not the whole shirt. Tops of this style you’ve given us would pair so well with some ankle grazers and capris, lil pair of slip on flats, low rise docs even… mules are my favourite in this instance ~ I feel like you could mix styles from, for example, Dangerfield (if you don’t mind prints) and Zara (hitting the mature end of youthful fashion) brands like those. “Corporate but make it you.”

How I can buy this Grinch Dallas Cowboys Logo Helmet Christmas Shirt
I like these outfits a lot! But I saw your comment about wanting to dress more professionally for grad school, that makes sense, I think you can definitely do that without losing your style, colour and edge. Pic 1: You could wear these pants with a collared shirt or blouse instead, or even the Grinch Dallas Cowboys Logo Helmet Christmas Shirt But I will love this white turtleneck from Pic 2. I think the jumper would also work with a skirt. The combination of the jumper and pants is really cute but the volume makes it feel casual/fun/youthful. Pic 2: I think you could use this white turtleneck in more professional outfits, eg with skirts, pants, culottes, a suit even. The cardigan and jeans look great but definitely feel casual and cosy to me, perfect for studying in the campus library though. This green is also a beautiful tone you could explore more. Pic 3: There’s absolutely nothing wrong with your legs! Because this skirt is quite short, I would keep the opaque tights with it for a professional look, but don’t let that stop you from wearing no tights or sheer tights in other settings. I don’t love the green top here, it feels neither here nor there (not quite sporty, not quite professional). A long-sleeved shirt or jumper would work better. You could even try the top half of 1 (untucked), 2 or 8 with this skirt. I like the shoes a lot but they are a big part of why this outfit reads young/punk rather than professional. Try a sleek ankle boot, or oxfords or brogues, or loafers.
Pic 4: Good outfit but I think all these elements read young (puffed sleeves, cuffed jeans, docs). Again, fine for campus. Pic 5-7: All your pants fit you so nicely! I wouldn’t wear any of these elements in a professional outfit though. Outfit 5 feels quite dated to about 10 years ago, and the Grinch Dallas Cowboys Logo Helmet Christmas Shirt But I will love this frayed hem feels too short with those shoes, though the cut of the pants is good otherwise. Outfit 6 and 7 are just very casual all round. Pic 9: The shirt looks a little too big around the neck, otherwise would work in lots of professional outfits. The oversize buttons on the cardigan make it feel very youthful but consider a jacket or shacket in a similar boxy cropped cut because I think the overall shape works well for you. – Either one element that’s fitted/tailored, or if everything is loose/oversized/wide, you can break that up with belts, bags and colour-blocking. Shirts fitted to your shoulders always look professional (harder to find in petite sizes but not impossible!).
– Shoes: You have lots of options, just go to any shoe shop that targets professionals and see what you like. Stick to boots and flats if that’s what you are most comfortable with but go for sleeker shapes. – Pants: Wide-legged pants, pleated or not, look really good on you. Don’t stress about pants being too long, getting pants hemmed is generally only $10-$20 and it’s relatively easy to do yourself, so as long as it fits well elsewhere that should just be a quick fix. Just get a couple of pairs that work with lots of tops. – Jackets: You mentioned blazers and jackets, I think they would go a long way to making these outfits more professional. Add a fun blazer to make any look more professional. Or a more professional looking pant with a cool print. I like your style. It gives “Young Millenial” or “Older Gen Z” vibes. Alternatively you can dress up a look with accessories like earrings, necklaces, bracelets or a nice handbag.
I have also been on a ‘I need to dress more adult’ mindset, and my advice would be to not wear what’s trendy and what teenagers/ young adults are wearing. Doc martens, tight high waist pants, ruffle skirts or short skirts, crop tops, are all things that are trendier amongst teens and younger adults. Start leaning more towards classic patterns, mid length or long length skirts, dressier shoes rather than casual shoes. If you’re wearing skirts try pairing them with dress shoes or heels type of thing. Or you can wear short pencil skirts but with black tights. Also ditch the Grinch Dallas Cowboys Logo Helmet Christmas Shirt But I will love this sporty casual tops and get more collared shirts, blouses and crew neck sweaters. You can wear crew neck sweater over your buttoned shirts, it’s preppy and classic.
Colors, I can see that you love colors and have a colorful closet. There’s nothing wrong with color but since you want to look ‘’more adult’ and maybe wanna also look ‘professional’, start looking at earthy tones. Dark greens and olive tones, browns, maroons, dark mauves, you seem to love the Grinch Dallas Cowboys Logo Helmet Christmas Shirt But I will love this color mustard, may I suggest the color ‘pear’, it’s an earthy yello-green, looks yellow and looks earthy green at times. Accessories are a nice touch, a sweater draped at the shoulders, or a chiffon scarf, or get a nice leather office bag instead of a backpack to carry your things. Also jewelry! If you can invest in some classy gold/silver jewelry. Maybe a nice watch. Nothing screams adult more than someone who has the time ticking and at their disposal at all times on their wrists. Your outfits are fun and youthful for a GenZ. None of your outfits are remotely adult looks though. Why do you need to look more adult? Is it for work or job interviewing?
You are buying into too many trends. Both the Grinch Dallas Cowboys Logo Helmet Christmas Shirt But I will love this pieces themselves and the fit. Crop tops are definitely not adult whatsoever. And you have those, tops with big billowy sleeves, super chunky shoes, and mom jeans….all trends that will be very dated eventually. Buy classic pieces. Pick one special item per outfit. Choose a fit that is body skimming but not tight or revealing skin. Spend more money on less items, but buy better quality. No offense, but you can tell these items are not expensive. Nope nope nope. People who are emotionally mature will show you the same respect that you show them. This is not the 1900’s but unfortunately you will still find many misogynist in professional realms. Sure, no bare midriff. But there is absolutely nothing unprofessional about your outfits. Many men get by wearing unironed golf shirts and ill fitting khakis (normal “professional” clothes)… Stop trying to impress shitty people who should be focused on the quality of your work by trying to dress a certain way. If someone at your place of work is too focused on what you wear rather than your work and business performance that is a big big red flag and you need to get out of there asap. It is totally legit to want to wear things that make YOU feel more confident in your role. NOTHING you wear, do, or say will change how a misogynist treats you at work.
I absolutely love your style now and i think that if you like it you shouldn’t change it. But if you do want to dress more adult i’d say get some low rise jeans, or maybe mid rise. Digging your quirky style! Try playing with accessories, mix up shoes and untuck sometimes. Remember, your style is YOUR adult! hi! just wanna say i absolutely love your style and it looks AMAZING on you, side not, in 8th pic where are your jeans from? they look so good I don’t think there’s anything wrong with how you dress. Just because we get older doesn’t mean we should grow up A lot of these pieces could work so don’t feel the Grinch Dallas Cowboys Logo Helmet Christmas Shirt But I will love this need to invest in a completely new wardrobe. Other commenters have made great suggestions:) Try wearing more neutral colours and less corduroy or jeans but instead trousers. Aritzia is a good place for trousers and they have “short” sizes which helps. Bodysuits are also a good choice if you like to tuck because they are smooth and won’t untuck and look messy or frumpy. I actually think your skirt look is really cute! I think maybe if you wanted a more professional look you could ditch the green top and pair it with a mock neck ribbed sleeveless shirt or bodysuit in a neutral colour like cream. For example something like this
Audrey Tautou has some stylish looks that might be right up your alley. Also, go for wrinkle-resistant fabrics or iron your clothes, makes a massive difference! I need to follow this advice too lol. I think you’ve got a hipster work look going on with the Grinch Dallas Cowboys Logo Helmet Christmas Shirt But I will love this beanies and knits/cardigans/crops/ultra high waist and jeans. If you want to look a bit more professional avoid anything with a worn out appearance (like your shoes). There’s a corporate business look which is probably too far from your style. So sticking to blazers, accessories like a watch might be good? And anytime I see midriff i would think you’re going out rather than workplace. Boden has lots of classic fits with colours or quirky patterns, maybe that could fit your vibe? They also have a petite range. I think your style is awesome anyway but I understand the need to « fit » in!
Love your style! You have the Grinch Dallas Cowboys Logo Helmet Christmas Shirt But I will love this right silhouettes in most pics- people have given you really good advice on your jeans/pants. One thing that can elevate your style is fabrics and texture! Go for 100% cotton, linen etc… stay away from polyester no matter how cute the style is. Invest in 1-2 100% wool coats/blazers in neutral colors for optimal usage Maybe switch to a Chelsea boot to look more polished? I also always recommend the naturalizer flats, sooo comfortable. H&M has nice slacks in different colors that come in petite. Your tops seem to have a lot of variety. I’d find a style/color/cut that you like best/feel most confident and kinda stick to it just to create a more cohesive wardrobe consider presentation, is your blouse wrinkly or steamed? Shoes scuffed? Do they need to be polished or cleaned?
When I entered a professional environment I was given a tip that really helped: get as much done the Grinch Dallas Cowboys Logo Helmet Christmas Shirt But I will love this night before as you can. Prep breakfast, pack your lunch, set out your clothes, steam them, check your clothes for any small stains or tears, try them on to make sure it looks the way you want, pack your gym bag so I can go straight to the studio in the evening. I’m an adult (I’m 38) and I love your style! I would wear a lot of your clothing to be honest lol. I think it comes down to some minor tweaks with fabrics and proportions. For example, your last photo the cardigan is great, I would switch the top below for a more fitted tank top/body suit, or maybe a silk camisole. For the bottoms, you could wear a pair or tailored wide leg trousers or wide leg jeans in a dark blue.
For your outfit with the Grinch Dallas Cowboys Logo Helmet Christmas Shirt But I will love this short skirt (adorable by the way!) you could switch the top for a fitted wool turtleneck (short or long sleeve), just to update it a bit. I find as I’ve gotten older, I gravitate towards more natural fabrics and tailored garments. But I still love to have fun with trends and colors! I think jumpsuits might also be a fun thing to look into! I was surprised how much older they made me look. There’s options at Athleta (the brooklyn jumpsuit?) and h&m. The style is a waistcoat top and long wide-legged pants. This alone, or with a blazer/collared jacket would look great I like your outfits. I would add a chic blazer jacket or even leather motorcycle jacket. Something well tailored. Maybe a sleek modern purse. I was always told as a kid “when you’re an adult you can choose exactly what to wear” and now that I’m an adult everyone shames me for my choices of clothing. It’s wild.
I love your style, it’s all mom jeans and sweaters kinda feel but your youthful and creative personality shines through it. I think that’s your “problem”. I wouldn’t say problem necessarily but if you want more maturity in your clothing try mixing in different types of materials into your clothing! Pairing a sweater or cardigan with a more business material skirt will up the Grinch Dallas Cowboys Logo Helmet Christmas Shirt But I will love this adult feeling. Also using things like crisp white button ups as layering pieces will give you that more mature feel. Nothing screams adult like a little black dress, and lbd can be very casual as well. Paired with more casual footwear and jackets they have a certain level of maturity without being over the top. Also “adults” generally accessorize a lot with every piece being thought out. Maybe pick up a few bracelets and necklaces that are simple, and can be worn interchangeably with multiple outfits. My suggestion is a few different necklaces of different lengths! That’s an important thing to note. Anyway good luck on your fashion journey!
Also, even though I don’t have any real advice I will say don’t be afraid to have a little fun with your professional outfits as well. I feel there is a balance that can be struck between looking professional and adding a fun personal flair to it 😉 you want people to see you as a professional but it’s also good for them to see you as a person at the Grinch Dallas Cowboys Logo Helmet Christmas Shirt But I will love this same time, I really admire people who can look professional but still express their individual style with it. Good luck and congrats on getting into graduate school!!! Part of me wanted to go into astrophysics it’s such a cool subject I’m excited for you!!! If you really want to dress older, shop in the misses clothing section instead of the young adult section. Any clothing in the young adult section will instantly give you a more youthful vibe, such as your style of pants and the crop tops. That first outfit is unbelievably classy and adult I think you hit the nail on the head. Btw where did you get the pieces in that outfit??
I like your style, but think a lot of the Grinch Dallas Cowboys Logo Helmet Christmas Shirt But I will love this fabrics look cheap and worn. I think this skews the looks towards young fast fashion to me. If it were me I’d invest in some nicer materials whether it’s brand new or second hand. It looks like your clothes are Target/Walmart. If you kept the same style but upped the brands, you’d be golden. I feel like since I’ve bought more elegant, stylized belts my jeans outfits look elevated. I treat my belts as accessories as much as practical items. Check out madewell belts for starters Your outfits seem perfect for a grad student. I’d hold off on getting much before you move. You may want to buy local clothing so that you blend in a little more or is more appropriate for the weather there. You’ll also likely bike, and might want some bike friendly outfits!
Start with more structural tops. Something with collars and try more straight darker jeans or different thicker bottoms. Colour of choices should be whatever you like. The first look is a good start. Good luck! If you want some tips for business wear the Grinch Dallas Cowboys Logo Helmet Christmas Shirt But I will love this blogger “extrapetite” has some very good tips with regards to styling and where to purchase workwear that looks both chic and comfortable. She even has guides for stores selling petite ranges, their return policies, etc. As a fellow lover of tucked-in waist-lines, I think you’d love her work outfit posts. Go to the Thrift stores and look for solid colored Talbots’ items. Petite blouse start at size 0. Go to the stores or look on line at their current offerings. They have a history of leaning toward 1960s silhouettes that come across as professional. Keep your personal style. You look like a smart, creative, energetic young woman. The only recommendation I have is to dump the midriff tops. You look great in them but they seem teenager to me. My style is probably very dated; I like modest , minimalist- high quality fabrics, clean lines.
