My kiddo had a similar observation, I’m freaking out trying to figure out how to help her get a home when she’s older when we are already struggling 🥲 Multigenerational housing will be the Nobody Fights Cancer Alone Shirt but in fact I love this only way. Kids will live with their parents and siblings and everyone will share in the cost of living. Sucks. This Or a bunch of roommates My very uneducated uncle worked for a telephone company for his whole career and my aunt was a teacher. They’re retired, in their 70s, and have a net worth of over a million. I make six figures and barely have a savings. I’m a genxer and my parents inherited a ton of money from the family. One great-aunt worked for ma bell as an operator when they were giving them stocks in the early days. She passed it on to her brother and sisters my grandpa was her brother. They retired in the 80s and lived a pretty lavish life style. They spent it gambling like nobodies business and there still was a bunch left to split between 5 kids, and all the sisters that got the money half never had kids so that got split with my dad and siblings too. It’s crazy to grasp that kind of money from 1 simple job back then. My parents recently had THE CONVERSATION with me about what’s gonna happen when their gone depending on who goes first, and he told us what we’re gonna get and it’s still a mind blowing figure. And here I am constantly worried if I’m gonna have a roof over my head next month. They can’t figure it out. I’ve asked them for financial help in the past and he absoluty refused. I’m a single dad with custody of my 2 kids, and he constantly compares me to my brother who married a farmers daughter 15 years and they got her parents house as a wedding gift. They have 2 incomes and don’t pay anything. Idk that ended up being a rant.

Can you ask your dad to sit down with you and help you figure out a budget? These people tend to be completely out of touch with the Nobody Fights Cancer Alone Shirt but in fact I love this reality of the situation. If he sees what you’re actually working against, it might open his eyes and make him more inclined to lend a hand. He has tried to budget with me for a long time. Growing up he’d take my paychecks and take half and put it into a college account for me, but that lasted till ended. I never made enough to put into savings on my own. And everytime I tried to put money into savings car problems or something would happen that would wipe it out. At first it was you need to get to work 5 minutes earlier, you’ll earn this much more a month, that was when I was single, then it turned into that’s impossible to live off that, somethings off, he’d say. No. I have literally lived my whole adult life paycheck to paycheck. They are just out of touch cause it was different in their past, and the past no longer exists, but a lot of people still think it does.
