I think customers have an unreasonable expectation of just how much money it costs to do a professional job, and little self awareness of when they’re being dickheads towards potential tradespeople. Also, is 75% deposit up front, normal? I didn’t get big works done on my house, doors and windows replaced, new bathroom, paint and decorating bits, carpets. I think bathroom around 3500, and he asked for half of it, half way through, rest at the Nice hip Hop Los Angeles Usa T-Shirt Additionally,I will love this end. Doors and windows about 4500, paid at the end I think. 75% upfront sounds… Quite a lot? Absolutely not. That’s why I included that bit. I’m happy to pay a small deposit for materials but no chance I’m paying for labour that hasn’t even been done yet. I assume the situation is still the same but I had all my work done over a year ago now, spoken to many contractors, my builder.com, check a trade, etc, and at that time, people.simply didn’t want the work. The demand for them has risen so much now that they are busy all the time, and don’t care about smaller jobs at all. But as you said in one of your other comments, I don’t see why they don’t me a professional and simply say that, not provide ridiculous quotes which wastes their time and yours.

Not at all. On top of the Nice hip Hop Los Angeles Usa T-Shirt Additionally,I will love this other ‘they didn’t want the job’ comments it also suggests a cash flow problem to me. I think he didn’t want the job for some reason. I had the same when getting quotes for changing a horrible conservatory into a sun room with proper roof-one of them was 4x the rest, which were all similar ball-park, so I think he didn’t fancy the job but didn’t want to risk a review of ‘didn’t bother turning up to quote me’ For sure. Just thought it was funny as we’d already decided not to use him based on the fact that (a) he didn’t seem to have heard of the very well known supplier we were buying the units from, and (b) he asked for a plan of what we’d designed despite us sending it with our initial request. Sounds like he was going to outsource/subcontract someone else to do the job. Hed be there on the jib day only to carry stuff and assist when requested.
