It’s in the Never Underestimate An Old Man With A Guitar T-Shirt Additionally,I will love this same vein about how a lot of parenting things that reinforce toxic masculinity are borderline abusive, but used to be seen as “necessary” because it’s a tough world out there and you needed your kid to be able to fend for themselves. Or beating your kids in general. Today, disobedience will land you in trouble, but 400 years ago (or even like 100 years ago depending on where you are) disobedience as a child could quite literally get you killed. You’d rather have a kid that’s traumatized and prepared than a dead child. Still doesn’t fully justify the abuse in my opinion, but the stakes were higher and the desperation was more understandable. I’m with you. My parents forced me to finish my plate and because of that I have a scarcity mindset. I noticed it when i would Get a big soda and feel like I have to finish it and then remember “no I fucken don’t. This is poison water. I should throw it away after one sip if I want to”. Same with food. If I payd and I’m full then it doesn’t matter if half the plate is left. I got what I paid for, a full meal You don’t know the frustration of a parent who makes a dish that for months until 5 minutes before suppertime was the kids favorite. Now the kid informed them that he hates it, always hates it and is now full. The child then is excused and wants ice cream because they are hungry.

I’ve never forced my kids to eat like my parents have, but I also haven’t made them mac and cheese because they suddenly don’t like meatballs and spaghetti. My parents did this and it never worked, all it did was make me hate the Never Underestimate An Old Man With A Guitar T-Shirt Additionally,I will love this food they tried to make me eat. I actually liked it when I got olde but that was when I wanted to try it. What they did only pushed me back further from trying it. You should be so lucky. It happened to me and at one of my grandma’s house of all places. She forced me to finish my cup of milk in which I told her it would make me sick to my stomach and I would not feel good, not only that but I don’t like the taste of milk. She still forced me and I wasn’t allowed to move from the table, lo and behold I threw up later. I always thought I was mildly lactose intolerant and it wasn’t until I had a job and money where I could buy my own milk that anyone believed me even when I kept complaining of stomach problems after having a bowl of cereal.
