Sounds about right. A shitty manager can wreck a good place and demoralize the My Favorite Bunnies Call Me Grandpa Family Easter T-Shirt Furthermore, I will do this competent staff in no time. I’ve seen it happen too often I didn’t quit! I never talked to the restaurant manager and they just stop putting me on the schedule when I didn’t show up for two weeks Edit: many people have pointed out that unemployment would not pay out just because you didn’t technically quit I worked in my state unemployment office for a year; it would be considered a quit because you stopped going in of your own accord. Not talking to the manager is just a technicality and the unemployment office won’t really care, but we do contact the employer for their side as well (to confirm if it was a quit/fired/layoff).

That an interesting take. If you could prove that management policy is that you can’t quit then even if you just no show and apply for unemployment, you can say they fired you. They had to, because quitting isn’t allowed Lmaooo. I worked there way back in the My Favorite Bunnies Call Me Grandpa Family Easter T-Shirt Furthermore, I will do this mid seventies when it was still quite new & novel in Toronto. I was 13yo (my ‘supervisor’ had just turned 17) and even though it was my first job, I knew something weird was up.The McDonald’s training films were almost like being indoctrinated. They wanted you IN,, all the way. It was like they wanted it to be a damn religion (and I didn’t fall for that crap either so the Ronnie McD didn’t have a chance). They had special competitions, if you can believe it, to see who.was the absolute best at their position. Cashiers with the biggest smiles, the cheeriest “Please Come Again!!” and the quickest service. I mean these ridiculous little cheesy ‘games’ would work up to nationally competing against other locations across North America. WTAF? Employees would hold their ‘awards’ over others like it really meant something. It’s a goddamn disgusting-tasting burger joint. I quit after about 18 months of part-time work (and they made sure you worked hard!!) at about $1.50/hr. I left bc I had a summer job that paid $2.00/hr. It was more than my goofy supervisor,Brent, earned and he was furious at me for leaving and my new wage. He had the bloody nerve to tell me I was making a huge life mistake and I would regret this decision forever. I laughed and laughed….all the way to my mom’s Monte Carlo in the Mickey Dee’s parking lot and never looked back. And , Hey Brent– 50 years later & still No regrets!
