Like “what is wrong with you?” A lot of the incompetent, the irresponsible, and the narcissistic, seem to be attracted to that field.

The manager was horribly incompetent at her job, she would recant stories about her and her son doing crack and jumping out of trucks, couldn’t even spell her title and proved it by leaving hand written notes that would end with “As per the manger” in full view of customers and employees alike. After a few months of putting in 40+ hour weeks for $8/hr to do my job as the only employee on shift for 8-10 hours a day, I’d have to find time to fill out her reports and send them to corporate signed in as her on her computer because she didn’t want to show up 4 out of 7 days a week. Eventually I ended up breaking a toe quite impressively (even the x-ray technician was impressed, he’d never seen a pinky toe break the way mine had, it was so broken it couldn’t be set and is messed up to this day) at home and she shifted me to third shift and got pissy and tried to give me shit over seeing me with my leg elevated on the safe and reading a newspaper at like 02:30-02:40 when it was completely dead and my major work was caught up and I still had another 4 hours to go on the shift. So I just took off my oversized purple shirt and tossed it at her, saying “I quit, I’m not paid enough for your crackhead shit” grabbed my stuff and limped home and fired off a few emails detailing just a fraction of the racist comments she directed at a former employee she had fired and her crack stories and within seven days the store was without a manager, a month later it was closing down because no one wanted to manage that location lol.
