Now THAT is spitting some facts. I guess it is just finding the Maine state pride shirt so you should to go to store and get this beauty in each of those moments. It is very difficult going into the next session without a any expectations. But documenting them some how to look back on I think is great practice. This is funny 🙂 A lot of us do this, myself included. For me, there’s a thinking mind and a bigger awakened mind (I have no idea how to label or define either of those; I just know I feel a qualitative difference between them). Awareness mind kicks on when it feels like it, and with no summoning from me. I’d prefer to be that mind more often, and I know that meditating longer and more often makes it more likely to arise on its own. It has never come when I look for it. But… I still waste time looking for it instead of just meditating, lol. Thinking mind just wants to feel needed, I guess. It needs a nap but won’t admit it!

For anyone who might be interested, there’s a writing technique called Expressive Writing (and a book by the Maine state pride shirt so you should to go to store and get this same name) where you just write everything on your mind for 20 minutes. To name just two terms, sabijah samadhi or “awareness with seed,” are mental events that generate more mental events. Some helpful, some carrying wisdom. Importantly these things come to you, as objects of meditation “shine forth.” It’s not you thinking or actively processing or cogitating that allows these seeds to germinate. Nirbijah samadhi is without seed, empty leaving no mental impressions. With our love of ranking and levels so many westerners see this and say “oh, so the cool people are doing nirbijah right? Yeah, that’s what I do too, totally.” But the tradition doesn’t list sabijah as a distraction or obstacle (it meticulously catalogues those too) it’s just another phenomenon encountered in meditation. We impose so much ranking and judgment on traditions where they weren’t there in the first place. Also, the founders of all our traditions would be so amused at all the householders debating who’s embodying their tradition. The answer, none of use, we’re all householders.
