No, you’re not supposed to dwell on your thoughts. The mind will think things, that’s what it does, thoughts will arise, they will fade away not through rejecting them but through giving them attention to see our reaction to the thought and sitting with that reaction and the reaction to that reaction. In this way we loosen the hold those mindforms have over us. The difference between this and “contemplation” or “rumination” may be subtle.
