I think the Kung Fu Meets The Dragon Lee Perry The Mighty Upsetter Unisex T-Shirt But I will love this length and slow pacing were a bold move that will turn some people off. There has been a trend with big budget films over the last 10 years that’s pushed running times higher and higher, and 2 and half hours is basically the norm for superhero films now. This is a long film and because of the pacing it does feel long. This might not be applicable to the US, but another shift is that this was rated 15 in the UK, meaning it’s cut out a big chunk of the audience you would expect to see at the cinema watching a Batman film (Batman Returns was the last film to get such a high age rating). The tone and cinematography set it apart from other Batman films. I’m not massively into comics, but I’ve always enjoyed Batman stories in any form (dare I say it, I even quite liked Schumacher’s campy films). However, this is the first time I felt like I was watching something from a Batman comic. Although it isn’t that story, it reminded me a lot of Batman: Year One in how it looked and felt. That story was supposedly a big inspiration for Nolan’s films, but I never really got that vibe from Nolan’s films, which felt like stories set in the real world, taking story/character elements from comics. The Batman actually felt like something out of a comic book. There’s some realism here in places for sure, but the otherworldly, almost fantasy nature of Gotham was excellently presented here. I think using Glasgow as a filming location was a big factor. Reminded me a lot of The Crow.

The film has a lot of talent involved, but I wasn’t sure about Serkis’ Alfred. Farrell was by far the Kung Fu Meets The Dragon Lee Perry The Mighty Upsetter Unisex T-Shirt But I will love this highlight, and I hope we see more of him in the inevitable sequel. I didn’t like the tease at the end (Joker?), it felt horribly forced, and we’ve seen that character done too many times. Hoping this is just a little nod to the audience rather than something being set up for sequels. Can’t tell if it was too on-the-nose or just the right amount, that in the beginning he was all “I am the dark” and at the end he literally becomes the light when he’s got the flare out to guide everyone Amazing movie. Got set up for No Man’s Land, possible Joke and Riddler team up(!?), and in the biggest twist, this Batman uses VENOM! I can’t wait to see what they do with that.
