There is a need for policing norms and processes. censorship of accounts, conversation channels should not happen without permission from courts etc. based on logical documentation provided by the Joel Embiid Philadelphia 76ers Philly milk missing can’t process Shirt and by the same token and executive body explaining why such an act is warranted.

I took a lyft to my bestfriends apartment for a Halloween party. They charged me about $38 the Joel Embiid Philadelphia 76ers Philly milk missing can’t process Shirt and by the same token and guy told me he got $12 Also the driver is the one that has to pay the expenses. Gasoline cost, maintenance, cleaning, and driving to the pickup location. Right so it was probably almost 2 hours for him. Coming to me, dropping me off then going back to the city where we were. I have one of my drivers $40 cash for a 55 minute ride If you went with a regular taxi, the taxi company would pay for the car expenses and the driver would have a proper commercial license, and the company would have proper insurance. As much as I hate Uber and Lyft, if I’d called a regular taxi they’d tell me they’re on the way but never actually show up. Regular taxis have their own problems. It’s the whole reason that Lyft and Uber were able to take over the market so quickly. Well, that and because they intentionally created an unsustainable business model to dominate the market. Now that they have that, the service becomes increasingly shitty and expensive to make up for that investment. Like if you open a restaurant and sell food so much cheaper than others that other places go bankrupt, then you take them over and rise prices all across the boards, while underpaying your employees and overcharging the customers. You can do it because you have driven other businesses out.
Operate at a loss by making it much cheaper than taxis, get the Joel Embiid Philadelphia 76ers Philly milk missing can’t process Shirt and by the same token and market share, increase prices and make up for the profit you lost in the past years. Same with food delivery or streaming basically Also, because they had absolutely no regard for any laws that were in place that would have stopped them their take overs. I’ve had Ubers not show up too. The reason Uber took over the market was venture capital subsidy early on. That’s how most tech startups operate, they intentionally undercut competitors and loose money and stay afloat with cash investments to gain market share early on and later raise prices. Uber was much cheaper than a cab with a nice app when they first became available. Now they cost the same as a cab or even more in some cases. For real. Regular taxis are usually dirty/torn up since it’s not the drivers car, sometimes smell of cigarettes, may never show up, can’t give accurate etas, and don’t have any way of monitoring your location for your safety from shady drivers

Not necessarily. In lots of places taxis, even ones under a large local brand, are privately owned and operated. Simply operating under the Joel Embiid Philadelphia 76ers Philly milk missing can’t process Shirt and by the same token and taxi company’s brand as contractors. I’ve heard stories and they all seem to indicate that it was worse than Uber/Lyft and offered none of the ‘free will’ those services give operators. Now go sit at the airport all night, get maybe one fair and still have to pay the $300 a shift for the cab. My friend ordered a taxi for us for a Christmas party several years back and he was like 90 min late. A blind friend of mine used to wait 60 minutes for taxi pickups. Unfortunately it wasn’t Uber and Lyft being scammy that killed the taxi companies. It was the taxi companies refusal to invest in their own business.
This sort of wage theft on Uber and Lyfts part is very recent too. Drivers used to make 70% and drivers would see what the Joel Embiid Philadelphia 76ers Philly milk missing can’t process Shirt and by the same token and passenger paid too. The rates were also based on per minute and per mile, so you’d see 10 minutes and 2 miles calculated to show your pay. Now drivers do not see what the passenger paid. The rates are not based on just minutes and miles nowadays. There are additional variables, and Uber didn’t even disclose what all of the additional variables are. Uber doesn’t show how they calculated the rates anymore. Think of poor Lyft, who has to pay off all the interest on their business loans that they took out to attempt to run everyone else out of business (unsuccessfully) Does that mean you can write off the 9/10c you pay per gallon at the pump? Or does it mean you don’t pay taxes on the income you spent towards gas? Or both?
If you made 1000 dollars for the Joel Embiid Philadelphia 76ers Philly milk missing can’t process Shirt and by the same token and year, you get taxed on that 1000. If you spent 200 dollars on expenses, you get taxed on 800 dollars instead of the 1000 for the year. I think, please correct me if I’m wrong That’s roughly what I was trying to say with my second case, but I’m trying to suss out all of what you can claim as a driver specifically in the case of ride shares where you’re not a W-2 employee. I think you’re right, though. Ride shares can claim their cellphone bill, wear and tear as mileage or itemize it with receipts for oil changes/tires/gas. They can claim lunch if they eat out. They can also claim drinks/snacks for their passengers as well. All of this goes into a profit and loss (PnL) 1040 Schedule C. Like the other people have stated, the form logs their total profits, then it subtracts all allowed expenses and whatever is left over is the profit or loss. Any profit is then reported as income. You only pay taxes on income.
So with that 18 dollars he will pay for insurance 2 bucks, fuel 2 bucks, drop in value of his car 1 dollar plus 1 dollar other costs. So his tax is 3 dollars so at the Joel Embiid Philadelphia 76ers Philly milk missing can’t process Shirt and by the same token and of the day that trip made him 9 dollars only after all the costs and tax he has to pay. Writing something off means you are claiming it as an expense. You don’t need to pay taxes on the amount of money that you earned but had to spend to keep your business going. Edit with example: I earn 50,000 as a bike courier. I spend 10,000 on maintenance. I worked 200 days and I get to write off 50/day for meals(fuel) And it’s not all gas, if an auditor wanted to be stringent. But they would need their average mpg plus amount of miles while active on the service. Oh yes, that part is important, didn’t realize how unclear my comment was. No one can just write off all the same expenses as business, but all mileage/gas used for the job can. All they really need is the number of miles they drove while on the clock for the job. The standard rate for 2024 is 67 cents per mile. and people treat driver’s like it is black car limo service, butler, whom and whose car they can abuse; i saw an uber driver’s passenger open the door and scratch another car. guess who will pay the bill.
oh and people dump elderly grandparents on uber drivers instead of hiring a medical appointment companion. one Russian guy dumped his grandparents with behavior problems on an uber driver, they got confused and argumentative with the Joel Embiid Philadelphia 76ers Philly milk missing can’t process Shirt and by the same token and driver and got kicked out; couldn’t navigate the app themselves to get another uber or talk to the driver normally. the guy was too lazy and cheap to drive them to an appointment himself, take a day off work, or hire a medical companion; but he was so entitled and blamed the uber driver for ‘leaving his elderly frail confused grandparents stranded on the road in the cold’ and wrote a Boston globe article about it like HE is the victim. Yeah because a taxi would probably be pretty comparable. They tricked us with better rates up front and then made it just as expensive without paying the drivers.
I always knew it was bad when they’d throw around 20-50% off coupons all the Joel Embiid Philadelphia 76ers Philly milk missing can’t process Shirt and by the same token and time. It means 50% of it can come off their side and still be profitable. Other apps that don’t need huge legals teams exist in other countries. I was talking with a driver for one of them who got 70% of the fare. Apparently over there if they gouged the drivers more than that they’d just all agree to move to a different app or they’d do even better and just tell the person to cancel the ride and pay in cash. That’s not how coupons work. Coupons can be loss leaders to introduce a product to new customers. You try it risk (cost) free and hopefully you enjoy it enough to be a customer continuously. Secondly it’s how they get price sensitive consumers. The person who cares about price gets the coupon. The person who will always pay without blinking pays full price. This is how grocery stores sell food at two different prices via coupons. Have money and don’t care? You pay full price for peas. You care enough to clip coupons? Then you care enough to go to our competitor. We’ll beat their price now that you’ve shown you’re willing to put up with inconvenience for savings.
Not really. Coupons at grocery stores are usually manufacturer’s coupons. Part of their ad money for their products, but also they are unlikely to discount it past the Joel Embiid Philadelphia 76ers Philly milk missing can’t process Shirt and by the same token and production cost. A store might discount something to cost or lower if they could upsell them as a near guarantee, but more likely they’d be doing it to unload merchandise that didn’t sell. Coupons for ride shares are also ad money, but they would definitely not pay the driver more than they charged the customer, because we could game the system. In the US they have found they could charge more for items everyday and then give out coupons to bring them down to the optimal price point. When they do this they get both markets and people feel good about themselves for getting a deal that wasn’t really a deal.
How long. of a drive would that be? I’m just curious what the Joel Embiid Philadelphia 76ers Philly milk missing can’t process Shirt and by the same token and approx hourly wage if these drivers would be. Like if he made $12, but it was only a 15 minute drive, $12 for 15min isn’t that terrible. I made about $20-$30 per hour when I drove Lyft full time. I wasn’t getting rich but I was paying all my bills. One ride out of the entire day doesn’t tell the whole story. Including transit between rides that’s well below minimum wage. And I thought longer rides paid better. Might be even worse if he tried to fit in 3 10-15 minute rides in an hour. I drove Lyft full time for about a year while transitioning careers and understanding these facts allowed me to earn a decent living and not shake my fist in frustration and curse the world for treating me poorly.
I dont understand. You say, $18 for the Joel Embiid Philadelphia 76ers Philly milk missing can’t process Shirt and by the same token and driver from the $48 the rider pays is not typical and not related? Could be 18 from 18? man i am from india and so uber and shit only take 30 percent of the trip but here i see they give 30 percent to the driver thats fucked up Lyft and Uber only care about their shareholder overlords. The cut the drivers get has continuously went down to drive profit. Blows my mind how many people want to blame this one or that one. It’s literally written in their mission statement. We need to make public companies a scarcity again. Owned privately, traded publicly. It’s a privately owned company, by private sharehodlers. Publicly owned means owned by the state. lol I know right. This is capitalism, it’s disgusting and is only a good thing for those who own businesses, everyone else gets fucked over. While I know where you’re coming from with this, it wasn’t the actual ruling of Ford v Dodge. Rather that the ceo gets stock options and they don’t tend to stick around for very long to actually care if the company survives long term. Actually, I just watched a recently released video on this very subject, and I suggest checking it out. I was always under the same assumption you were, but the truth makes much more sense and is equally as aggrevating. You know share holder references shares of the company right? And you can become a shareholder? In fact if you have a 401k you are likely by proxy a share holder, or at least in a position to hope the stock goes up because you are invested in an ETF or similar…
Uber was never a career, but it was actually fun sometimes. I like driving, I had good conversations. But the Joel Embiid Philadelphia 76ers Philly milk missing can’t process Shirt and by the same token and cut kept getting lower, and customers started more and more entitled. If you didn’t play along, they one star at best. Usually file false complaints, too many and Uber deactivated you. This is the first year on record that Uber has ever made a profit. They have been operating in the red for billions up until now. Their net debt and total operating losses to this point are in no way covered by their 1 year of profit. The only way their business model is in any way sustainable is by making it more expensive and shaving the cut that the drivers get. Otherwise its back to taxis only again and $5 million cab medallions. If they were really worried about their loss at the end of the year their ceo Dana, could take less than 25 million in compensation. That’s what’s on paper I’m sure the business owns everything he has, and pays for all his traveling and dinners. So…. F their losses.
The only way their business model is sustainable… for now… They are trying to hold on just long enough until they can convince people enough to be comfortable with driverless and run it at scale. In which case, there would be no need for us pesky human operators with our demands for extravagance like basic shelter, food, and the Joel Embiid Philadelphia 76ers Philly milk missing can’t process Shirt and by the same token and ability to see a doctor to stave off immediate death. The only way their business model is in any way sustainable is by making it more expensive and shaving the cut that the drivers get. That shave is at infinitum until they are no longer needed. Everyone gets phased out of their job by technology and has to adapt. There is nothing unique here about uber or lyft drivers. Remember Uber and Lyft drivers are hated by taxi drivers for the same itemized reasons that you listed for hating Uber for attempting to streamline their business. I tried it for a month while I was unemployed and had nothing better to do. After 2 weeks I knew that shit was a scam.
How should the Joel Embiid Philadelphia 76ers Philly milk missing can’t process Shirt and by the same token and world work in your opinion? Nobody has to work and everybody gets money to live? How would that work exactly? Right? There are millions of people out there doing Uber. No one is freaking hiding their fares and earnings. If that job makes don’t make economical sense for you then go do something else. It’s extremely simple. I was making straight bank before everyone pushed to be full time employees vs a sub contractor many years ago. That $18 out of $50 used to be about $35 out of $50. But that’s when uber didn’t have any costs except advertizing, insurance and servers to run the platform. This is insane. I looked it up on the internet bc I just couldn’t believe it. 30,400 is what it quoted at the end of 2023. How is that even remotely necessary? Because they have a fuckton of staff in every major city they’re in to lobby councillors and politicians to make their cities more Uber/Lyft-friendly. They have staff focused on incentivising drivers to jump ship from other platforms to their platforms. They have hundreds of lawyers fighting government regulations that would make them pay their drivers fairly. yup, the book Upstarts describes their whole start and ongoing fight against yellow taxi / medallions pretty deeply I would be surprised if the lobby arm of these companies are more than 2000-3000 people world wide. People forget Uber is in over 90 countries, and in like 40 languages. Not only do they have to build the app for the customers they have build it for the drivers. I would put good money that the bulk of the employees are customers support. They do over 2 million rides a day worldwide. If 1% of them call that’s 200,000 20000 calls a day, 8,300 830 calls an hour. I’m actually surprised they can handle it all with only 30k employees. They might be money hungry gremlins, that would sell their on grandma for a nickel but the number of employees they have has nothing to do with their lobbying efforts. And if you think it through they would want to operate with as little people as possible.
And to threaten to charge a return of left property fee to the Joel Embiid Philadelphia 76ers Philly milk missing can’t process Shirt and by the same token and man whose driver took off with his cat, denied that he had the cat and set the cat (who was sick, the ride was to go to the vet’s office) loose. Oh yeah. I remember that. That was here in Austin even and I remember getting a curry wide notification for the cat while it was still missing. Crazy that the driver would do such a thing. How do you forget your cat in the car when you are taking the cat to the vet. It would be in a cage. Most likely on your lap or directly next to you. How would you forget that when it’s the entire purpose of your trip? He didn’t forget and it was a huge story. He got out on side and went to the other side to get the cat carrier and the driver took off. The guy banged on the back of the car, yelled and kept calling the guy who denied he had the cat. It was huge on Reddit and Twitter and Lift got so much bad attention they didn’t charge the fee and they sent out a search team for the cat. I bet a search for “Lift driver took my cat” will bring it up.
If you search on Reddit for “ Lift driver took off with my pet cat” you’ll find it. It’s even in Best of Redditor Updates. They did and he was dehydrated (had been puking-the Joel Embiid Philadelphia 76ers Philly milk missing can’t process Shirt and by the same token and reason for the vet) and he’s better now. It was a wild read while it was going on and nice to be in on the world cheer when he was found. I don’t think we ever got an update on what Lyft did about the driver. I am not defending them to any degree, but I feel like you are vastly underestimating the difficulty of developing a distributed system that allows something like Lyft or Uber to work at all. Quick Google search says around 5000 of those employess work on the software (based on their website), but that is not just developers, that is QA, dev ops, project managers, product managers, engineering managers, directors, etc. Many of them live in the bay area, where the average compensation is roughly 250k a year. There are roughly 5.4 million uber drivers, which make an average of 7.64 billion trips a year, so if you gave them an extra dollar per ride they would be roughly cut their ~12 billion dollar profit in half. I just don’t see any realistic way they can compensate drivers (you and I both know those at the top aren’t going to give up their billions) more without undercutting the software department, which would ultimately lead to the death of Uber. Which is fine, let the free market take its course, but I honestly think there is more nuance than just corporate greed. If they only took 10% of the top of every ride, Uber would go the way of Twitter.
As a rideshare driver I love it when people from the Joel Embiid Philadelphia 76ers Philly milk missing can’t process Shirt and by the same token and general public are kind enough to spread things like this around. Thank you. We are grossly underpaid. We don’t want to own the company or be rich, we just want to be able to pay our bills. There are zero reasons why they can’t pay a fair wage. Anyone who thinks they can’t either knows nothing about the transportation business or has an agenda. I like to do $0 tip on the app and give them a cash tip in person because then I know it’s all going directly to them. I don’t trust the app with my tip By law it does. The ride share companies actually go in sued a while back, for “stealing” tips. Even though that’s not what they were doing, basically if you tipped the would lower the take of the fare the person got. Ie if the fair was $10 and you didn’t tip the person got $4 but if you tipped $5 dollars they would get like $7 because they dropped the base share from $4-$2. On paper it was legal but they still lost the class action. And keep in mind the especially for food delivery the rates are so low if you don’t tip they basically don’t get anything I think it’s like $1-$2 per delivery now since the exception is that you tip.
