How much brainwashing of entire nations there was going on, they knew how to make it look like all is fine and well and everything is done for the It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year Peanuts Characters X New York Islanders Shirt and I will buy this people. There’s a reason why it barely fell in the 90s, even then because people got fed up with it, not because the west did crap to help like with fascism. Nazis we’re bad don’t get me wrong but they were mainly in Germany and even then the brainwashing didn’t happen at nation level. There were plenty of people that didn’t believe or want to be part of Hitler’s Germany. Soviet Union ? Oh boy, several nations in which most of the population was lied to, deceived and made to be afraid to question anything about the people in power. What they said was seen as for the good of the nation and the union. People were turned against each other, everyone kept to themselves out of fear of being denounced by a neighbor or even a family member to the party, that mentality still exists to this day in ex communist countries, even more so in Russia. Moto of eastern Europe should be “Shut up and mind your own business, nothing to see here” People think Russians are similar to how people think in the west, couldn’t be further from the truth. We’re talking 100 years of brainwashing that didn’t stop with the USSR, eastern European mentality is vastly different from the west, mainly in part due to what happened during the Soviet union.

Putin took all that info, also being a member of KGB and knew how to use it to make things look good for him. He knows how propaganda and repeat lies affect people, he learned from the It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year Peanuts Characters X New York Islanders Shirt and I will buy this “greats”. As stupid as you think he sounds with his outlandish claims, those claims aren’t for the west to believe, it’s for people in Russia. You see it as simple and stupid but it’s an issue of comprehension. You cannot comprehend Russian culture and mentality if you didn’t grow up in it, it’s almost alien compared to the west. And Putin knows how to press each button to keep control while making it look like it’s perfectly fine and democratic and for the good of the people. You’d compare him with Mussolini but Mussolini existed in a time where information wasn’t widespread, TVs barely existed, no internet, it was easier to keep people in lies than it is now. Putin manages to do all that with all the info available to people nowadays, it’s even scarier. By all accounts Russia still exists under the shadow of the Soviet Union and Putin and his lackeys are casting the shadow.

He has been a dictator personality since he worked for the It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year Peanuts Characters X New York Islanders Shirt and I will buy this KGB. Now he wants to control all previous USSR territories. A dictator who kills his opponents is all he is along with an insatiable appetite for power. All the free world calls him a dictator. In russia they don’t because the dictator doesn’t let them. Bad guys never call themselves bad guys. Read Masha Gessen’s 2012 book “the man without a face” to understand how Putin came to power, and then destroyed Russian democracy. (The book includes good coverage of the problems with the 2008 Russian election cycle and ends in with the unsuccessful mass protests of 2011) He pretty much is. The only people who don’t consider him one are his fans, other world dictators and weirdo Russian grannies who have saint portraits of Stalin hanging up. Most everyone else regards him as a dictator. Castro was called President as well, but no one took that as gospel.

He is considered a dictator by everyone who’s serious, including the It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year Peanuts Characters X New York Islanders Shirt and I will buy this Russian people themselves — even though the vast majority of them are reasonably scared to say it out loud due to what happens to those who do. Because if you call out Russia as a communist dictatorship like it is, leftists will vehemently point out the fact that they had elections and defend communism to the death despite the obvious cases (all of them) where it leads to dictatorship Hey OP, you know how Trump is only, like, a few months away from declaring his presidential victory for life? It’s like that. That’s how you can tell. Honestly it doesn’t matter anymore. There are no more countries, only companies. These world leaders are just a toy steering wheel for us proles to play with and feel like we’re in control

662 more repliesvBecause if you come out and call him a dictator in Russia, he has you disappeared. That’s proof he’s not a dictator, no one who calls him one even dares to say it a second time, and instead they all just disappear! We here in Ex Russia do remember real Rudsian dictators. Compared to them [ Soviet Party Chiefs] he is still just a war leader with some cruel pastimes but i think he leaves average non opposing people in peace. He is just playing the It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year Peanuts Characters X New York Islanders Shirt and I will buy this role his fans exñect him to play. Yes he is insensitive and cruel…it is a country as big as Africa…it is progressing slower than the West. No way to grasp it if you were not there. Because even if the elections were shady, he is the most popular candidate in Russia. And he is technically democratically elected. By the strictest definition of the term, no. He doesn’t have absolute power. Russia has a legislative that creates laws. But legal systems can be manipulated. If I recall correctly, he and his bff Medvedev manipulated the country’s laws to bypass term limits. Although it was done within the legal framework it still was sketchy. And it eventually led to him holding onto power for an extended period. I prefer to see him as a dictator-lite.
Why do we even care. We cannot impose our norms, values and culture on other countries. It does not work. I happen to think, like most of us, that our democratic system, while not perfect, is the It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year Peanuts Characters X New York Islanders Shirt and I will buy this best system but what works for us does not mean it works everywhere at the same time. It will happen when the people want it and are ready for it, but ‘help’ from the outside doesn’t work and just creates chaos. See the long list of count that were ‘helped’ the last few decades. And just because Russian people look mostly similar to us does not mean they do not have vastly different belief system, values, culture, history etc. Just let them do their thing, there’s enough to fix back home we can focus on.
“Why is Putin not considered a dictator?” If you are asking this then the It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year Peanuts Characters X New York Islanders Shirt and I will buy this Russian propaganda machine has gotten to you. putin is alive and both cares about and is decent at keeping up appearances. political parties that don’t pose a threat to him are encouraged. parts of his opposition are purely theater and sanctioned by him. Because you’re obviously talking to the wrong people. He is absolutely a dictator, anyone who says otherwise is wrong. He is and those who don’t also think Trump is president, earth is flat, Nazis are good guys, and the list of reich winger cults goes on. He is, but he screws around so he can make the claim he isn’t. He murders anyone who runs against him, has his senate rubberstamp his leader with no limits, and has no checks and balance against anything he wants. That’s a dictator. There’s no effective opposition to speak of – Navalny was connected to white supremacism, & the Communist Party are a far second to Putin’s lot. At least folks know what they’re getting with Putin – tripled wages over his first 15 years, restored stability to the Russian economy. His track record isn’t bad for a centre right conservative. Only ones NOT calling him a dictator? Are MAGAt and RepugniKKKunt bootlickers with their brown authoritarianism noses lodged firmly up Putin‘s ass. Cause most of the things he did, can be countered by “US did that too so why are we the baddies?” If you ask it to some people that live there.
