I’m not gonna go out and shoot the It’s a Tiger Thing shirt moreover I love this wallabies in the back yard to feed my family when I can go to the shops and buy meat that’s ready to cook. But even if we use apple trees as an example, most people will go to their closest grocery store over travelling to a known apple grove along a creek half an hour away at the hopes that the apples are ripe and not taken by animals. I know some people do do this sort of thing. My daughter and I go pick feral figs and almonds in our area, but this is done more as an activity, much like hunting is to most people that do it. We have wild hogs on our deer camp land. I shot one and called the local processor to schedule a time. They could not process because they said they would have to clean and switch over equipment from deer processing. I ended up finding a poor family nearby that was happy to take it. Something I’m not seeing in the other comments is cost of processing. You may end up paying $2-$5 per pound in processing fees if you don’t do it yourself. You can get ground pork from Walmart for not much more, and it’s going to taste better. I can’t imagine a million people out there purchasing the equipment to do their own processing or wanting to undertake that endeavor. Another example, another person in camp shot a boar. I took a back strap home and cooked it on the grill. It was giving off a strong urine smell as it cooked, so I threw it away. One last bit of info, the hog I shot was in a group of about 20. When I shot they all ran. I did not see another one for the remainder of the season. They are smart and will simply move off areas where they are threatened.

I remember there was a big to-do for those of us up by Canada re: the It’s a Tiger Thing shirt moreover I love this super pig invasion. In general, wild swine can fuck you up. Your time is valuable. Hunting and butchering an animal takes time and effort, and it’s usually cheaper for most people to go to the store. Idk about you, but to me pork is a mediocre meat to begin with and I doubt wild boar is any better. Probably worse. Hunting and butchering meat is hard and requires quite a bit of skill. Especially an animal like a hog which basically built like god wanted them to be nigh indestructible and very angry. Hogs are also not just wandering willy nilly all over the place where. You have to have an area that is both appropriate for hunting and accessible. The small ones taste good but as the boars mature they don’t taste very good unless they are turned into sausage. Wild hog is good but it’s not like pig. Hog is gamy, I tried it steam and dipped in pepper sauce. It was good but it was so sticky to my teeth. Also they attack on sight An intact male hog’s meat stinks of hormones. Some people don’t taste or smell it, but I can from a mile way due to growing up on a farm. Every once in awhile, I can even detect it in store-bought bacon, so the thought of trying to gag down the wild version is very unappealing tbh.
