I had constant mould problems, only thing that’s worked is a (proper, 7.5L/day I think) dehumidifier. The small ones did absolutely nothing. It it a wall with a burst pipe in, is it a bathroom wall, do you have a tumble dryer in the room, a humidifier, does nexdoor share the wall and have something going on the other side of it etc etc. to remove the mould you can just use spray from the shop and dry the area off. Crank a few windows little space heater with a fan. But if you don’t solve the reason behind it your be battling it over and over again. Most common cause is leaving windows shut and having the dryer going. I had a small studio flat once and it was a constant battle as kitchen shared same room as living room and the bedroom was tiny and the centre of the flat had laundry room so if you did anything the whole place would steam up. We had to use a very long pipe from dryer and Chuck it out the window, run fans when it was on. When we cooked all windows had to be open and doors shut.

I understand teenagers can be difficult but the problem wouldn’t exist if they just opened their windows, or if someone just opens the windows when they’re out at school / college / etc. It seems like a bit of a hassle having to install vents and do DIY when it can be solved by such a simple thing. You’re the parent after all! I’ve never had a mould issue in the house, and I’m in NE Scotland so it’s regularly cold and damp outside, and that’s with drying washing in the spare room. My Mum has also never had mould issues in my living memory and she does the same thing. All my windows upstairs are open during the day. The mould grows on the ceiling above my built in wardrobe coz there’s a gap so the doors and runners can both fit and be functional so I do that a lot in winter but never have to do it in summer.
