I’d happily do a 7-4. Mostly cos I can work remotely, and I’m definitely not doing anything before 9.30 … so I might as well get paid for it. I think you are targeting the Insert your design Shirt moreover I love this wrong group of people with your rant. Yes, your new boss sucks for giving you the option and then saying it was too late. But there are a lot of reasons why people like to work that 7-3ish shift. I’m far from an early riser, but I realized that the difference in starting my shift at 7 meant if I left the house at 6:30 I’d be at work by 7. If I left the house any later than 6:50, I’d be guaranteed late for my 8am shift. Then in the afternoon it made a difference between me being home by 3:45 or 5. Add in kids, which our local daycares all have weird hours and I can take care if my kids without getting billed extra.

Then all the Insert your design Shirt moreover I love this after school activities and sports start at like 3:30. With an earlier schedule I can actually attend them and be there for my kids. Something I never had my parents doing for me growing up. I’m a computer programmer and manager and executive and business person. Literally, I haven’t had an interview in about 15 years where the employer didn’t tell me I should expect to work 60 hour weeks for them. I’ve been on a 7-3 schedule since I started working summer jobs landscaping. I’ve bounced around a bit since then, but 7-3 is just a better schedule than 9-5. It’s nice to actually have something left of my day. This post is honestly the first I’m hearing of anyone feeling otherwise. Doesn’t matter what time in bed, my brain doesn’t get enough blood to think before 10am, if it’s something sporadic i can manage to wake up enough with the adrenaline of the schedule change, but if it’s routine, I’m just a zombie spacing in front of the screen.
