We recently had a woman leave our team, she’d been 4 years as a “Contract worker” not a full time employee, and every attempt she’d made to become a full time employee was rebutted. She handed in her two week notice, and her boss said “But you’re an integral part of this team, we NEED you here” to which she said “Could’ve fooled me” and walked away. The amazing part of this story? I found out about it FROM THE MANAGER. He was telling us this story as if he was somehow the Independence Day calls for BBQ parades! Eagle Flag T-Shirt in other words I will buy this victim here!! The CFO looked him directly in the eye and said “Paul, there was nothing you could do, she clearly has no business being here” As an answer to his comment about you working there for life, you could tell him/them that you thought you would, too. Yeah, he’s gonna throw a hissy fit. He wants some sucker who is going to work there forever for the same money. Moral of the story here is that you’re not that sucker, congrats and great work prioritizing yourself and your career over the needs and wants of some egotistical, ‘my business should just make me money with no additional cost or work’, run of the mill, generic asshat.

Independence Day calls for BBQ parades! Eagle Flag T-Shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

Good luck in your next job and hopefully next time you offer the Independence Day calls for BBQ parades! Eagle Flag T-Shirt in other words I will buy this standard 2-week courtesy notice and cut it short at the first sight of mistreatment or trying to add more responsibilities to your position. That sounds like my brother. He is months into a hissy fit with us siblings. Jokes on him…him not calling us multiple times a day is a gift! Well, it sounds like he is going to fulfill his own wish & you leaving will be the end of the company. Good luck with your new gig OP. Second of all, if you ask for a raise, don’t do it over email. Ask in person (or at least a call if you’re remote). In this case, it seems like your boss wouldn’t have given it to you anyway so no harm done. Usually lifetime servitude requires either a steel neck collar or a golden ring on the left hand. He didn’t give you a gold ring! Have they never heard of inflation? Companies like this are like lazy significant others who think once you move in together or get married the dating effort stops. Some people get attached to their favs, when I first started at my current company, my Director thought of me and some others as his own kids. But, when an opportunity came up for me to do something new, I took it and he completely shut down. Be happy you work for someone who appreciates you and wants to know you more than just some number, it won’t always be like that. But, by the same token, you cant let that stop you from moving on to other opportunities and better pay.
