Christian mythology themes – trying to reach the I’m a grandma and a Blue jackets fan which means I’m pretty much perfect shirt moreover I love this light representing divine power, in attempt to gain absolution for the sin he committed, but in the end being rejected and falling The themes are obviously nautical as I said in my earlier post a lot of superstitions and plays on what lighthouse keepers actually had to do. The main plot was how being isolated can slowly turn people mad if they’re not strong-willed or in Defoe’s case you have to be just a little bit mad to withstand the brunt of it. Robert Pattinson’s character just took the job because he saw the way to make quick money. Dafoe killing his partner could be up in the air a lot of evidence for it but will never know. Maybe he committed suicide. Sorry for so many posts but I really loved this movie. The ending was incredibly surreal So simply put the plot is essentially two men that have to watch a lighthouse for a period of time on an island, a really bad storm kicks up which prevents them from being picked up when they had to so they had to stay there longer and then they just slowly fall into madness as they’re stuck on the island with really not much to do. There’s a lot of old sailor and nautical themes tied into the hole plot and superstitions.

As Robert Patterson divulged into madness he sort of took it personal that the foe wouldn’t let him man the light and made him do all the shitty tasks. You were on set with Dafoe?? On THIS movie?! Oh gods, that must have been riveting. I actually have yet to watch it, but I know I’ll enjoy it, because I love him and also love Jack London-esque stories about survival in harsh, isolating climates. What’s your take on Dafoe in person? I don’t think I’ve ever watched an actor interview with him, so I’m curious as to what he’s like offscreen. Im soooooo happy this movie is getting its praise!! I went to see it because my buddys brother saw it and wouldn’t stop raving about it. The trailer had the beans bit and i was sold.
