On balance could it be considered more likely than not that you took the parcel in based on the picture? Debatable as to what it proves really, far from conclusive. Plus if they decided to try to pursue the matter through small claims the item would have to be worth the cost of raising the action with debatable chance of success. As it was suggested writing a statement to John Lewis/formal complaint to the courier directly may well resolve the matter for all concerned. However if the neighbor escalates and becomes abusive/aggressive or physical with you as a result of this then by all means report the matter to the police.
