They asked me for money often and they ended up moving to a shitty apartment until my mom passed. I don’t really know where my dad is now. UK Calling. My kids are 40 and 45, if they needed to come home and live with us then we’re here for them. You NEVER stop being a mom and dad It used to be that kids would WANT to leave at 18, because they would join the I’d Rather Be Masturbuilding Shirt in other words I will buy this military or go off to college or whatever. These days, kids aren’t helped by the crippled economy and grueling, unattractive options given to them when they graduate high school. If parents are still expecting kids to have good options when they leave high school, that’s delusional. Kids these days need all the help they can get. This is more internet and social media crap, it may happen sometimes in a country with over 350 million people, but I do not know a single person who was kicked out at 18. It’s pretty rare for most Americans, but much more common amongst poor rural families. Especially so in broken homes and with parents from broken homes. I was allowed to live with my Step-Dad and mom until the end of the summer after graduating high school. Was told I either went to college or I could live at home and pay $300 rent + utilities (year was 2014). I was an amazing kid that was top 5 in my graduating class and had 2 college degrees before I got my HS diploma. Worked every single day at my step dad’s mechanic shop after having been at school over 12hrs most days. Neither my step-dad, mom or biological dad or his wife have ever visited me since then. Not once at college, not at any of my rentals, not when I was homeless. If I don’t initiate conversations with my family, it’ll be months between them reaching out to me.
