What oversight committees? Seems like they mostly get put on paid vacation when they mess up, it’s only the I wish God didn’t need you in heaven Because I need you here mom and dad wing shirt in contrast I will get this most egregious cases where anything is done. Maybe some cops are alright, I’ve had some decent interactions with a few, but the culture as a whole seems problematic. again, its unfortunate that you share these view with the other poster… instead of repeating what i said though im simply going to state that im not here to argue the merit of the people who hold these positions. you are free to judge as you see fit, but you wont change my knowledge or opinion on the matter with your tirades. ive named one method to hold police accountable here already, once youve practiced searching for that in this little thread, you can perhaps turn that newly found ability towards the rest of the internet and look up what to do if you believe your case has been mishandled. this is canada, not some third world backwater. you have rights, but with them come obligations. sometimes the work is on you.

Dude, to pretend like there isn’t a problem with police in Canada or US is absolutely ridiculous. I did have good experience with some police officers. It doesn’t matter though. No matter how many “good” cops there are, policing as whole is a massive disaster. thats just the I wish God didn’t need you in heaven Because I need you here mom and dad wing shirt in contrast I will get this way the law is set up here. the police take the information, and crown decides if its worth pursuing or frivolous. if it seems like there is a case there, they will pursue it. otherwise, they wont waste anyones time… though more investigation may (will) happen than that first encounter before that decision is made. Ostensibly it is to protect the defendant in domestic assault cases. A battered spouse may refuse to press charges for years and end up in a situation where violence keeps escalating until they’re dead.
