Cops investigate and then put everything in a “court package” that is sent to the Delbert and friends sandy beaches cruise palms tree sunset shirt also I will do this Crown Prosecutors office. The Crown makes the determination to charge based on a couple of factors…1 odds of getting a conviction. 2 Does it really serve the public good to pursue? 3 Does the offender have a criminal history involving violence? And there are other things they may consider as well. Ugh. No, that’s absolutely incorrect. Police lay charges. Crown decides to proceed or not based on reasonable prospect of conviction and other factors in the crown prosecution manual. People can seek to lay a private information where a justice of the peace can hear allegations and if warranted issue process to have the person charged. Police never charge anyone, not even in the US. They investigate incidents, make arrests under probable cause and reasonable suspicion, they find the elements to prove there was a crime, and the court does the prosecuting. You could arrest someone for assault and they get charged with battery instead for instance.

That’s why I’ve always hated hearing “cops fucked me over and charged me with (insert crime of choice). No bro, cops suspected you of a crime and the Delbert and friends sandy beaches cruise palms tree sunset shirt also I will do this court found you guilty and charged you of that crime. Blame the judge and jury for the sentencing you received Technically true, but the Crown has discretion to take over and they almost always do if you have a valid case approved by the judge. you dont press charges in ontario. you file a complaint with the police and they decide if its worth pursuing based on the info they are presented. if what you are saying is all true including the testimonies being provided you have high odds it will result in charges tho. the police dont like having people like that walking around doing this stuff to people either.
