Second time was catching a .40 round that had ricocheted while shooting at a national ranking match in IPSC. I actually saw it coming in with my peripheral vision and took that hundredth of a sec to think, “ah fuck, this is gonna hurt”. After a few hours, it was roughly the size of an orange. It took me out of competition for almost 3 months while I healed back up. I’ve had lots of broken bones, and this was the same as all the others….a deep deep throbbing in the bone that never quite goes away completely until it’s healed up. It burned. Chasing a suspect turned and started throwing shots. Caught a .32 in my side, missing everything important. I was shot twice in the chest during a robbery at the bank I worked at. The bullets missed my heart by less than 3 centimeters. It felt like someone stabbed me with a red hot poker. The burning was by far the worst part of it. I didn’t even feel the pain from me falling down (the force was so hard I ended up on my back) or the actual wounds until I woke up in the hospital. But I’ll never forget the burning. It felt like I was on fire.

They seemed to want what I was carrying but they wasted time tying me up and jabbering on about something while sitting in a literal graveyard outside of town. The one who shot me had an outrageous suit on. Guy’s name was Ben or something but memory is foggy. A doctor happened by and was of great help in securing my life. I have very little issues now (I’ve had my vigor tested). I’ve talked to people and it seems the one who shot me lives in Las Vegas. I’m going to make my way there and deal with him eventually.
