Then the Haunted mansion est 1969 the perfect final resting place art shirt moreover I love this role will go to competitive externally. It sounds like OP is being given a promotion that they may normally not be the ideal candidate for or may be a bit short on skill sets but they’re willing to do it. If you negotiate this, which can’t hurt, you gotta be realistic and flexible. They could just as easily title the role down a level and give less comp that way. Then OP is missing on the title which is very useful for their next job… I’m on the high end of my roles comp and I expect when I get promoted to be more in the middle. I might not get a raise or it may be very low. I’m okay with that for the title tbh. Best thing to do is mention the comp is a little low in an elegant way and ask if there’s anything to do to get it a bit higher knowing the responsibilities are much more. You don’t wanna come off to picky here though as they already said it’s going to be posted externally. My guess is they were hoping the guy would say yeah before they posted it externally and also hoped he wouldn’t look to see he was getting shafted (purposefully) cause companies are shitty

I had this happen to be years ago I was a lieutenant moved into a captain slot. No raise no nothing just a new job do it Never take the Haunted mansion est 1969 the perfect final resting place art shirt moreover I love this offer from the existing job. They know you’re not weak and will walk. They won’t want to offer a raise later, and will find excuses to not. Or, they will replace you outright for someone who doesn’t know that trick. Is there any concept of leveling at OP’s company? I ask because where I work, you’re not going to get a promotion in level on what amounts to an internal transfer. If this is the case OP, taking the bump and seeing what it takes to get the promotion in that role might be the move I second this — at my company (maybe all companies) you can ask what your comp ratio or market comp or something is. Our company has a strict bound (think it’s .78 to 1.22 or something similar — 1.0 being average comp rate for title) that they pay for each title. You *HAVE* to be brought up to .78 when given a new title (if you aren’t already there). 86k on a 116k target is .74 — so maybe your company does something similar and is bumping you to the lower end of the rate for the title.
