We’ve all been there, try not to get too discouraged. If I’ve learned anything in my career ( and life) it’s that you can’t control everything. Sounds like you were setup for failure. I think other companies will understand your story: “ I was recruited right out of college as a junior dev but was directly reporting to CEO, there was no agile or dev team or other engineers between me and CEO. I’m a very competent Junior dev but the Get in Winner This is America US Presidents 4th of July Monster Truck T-Shirt in contrast I will get this reality was they they needed to hire a senior / staff engineer or CTO to handle what they needed done. We both realized quickly it wasn’t a good fit. I’m now looking for a good team to join where I can add value.” He wanted a senior dev and got a junior dev. It just wasn’t a good fit and that’s not your fault. It is very rare to find a good fit right out the gates. No shame in saying it wasn’t a good fit in future interviews either. It is very common. You could claim it was more like an internship if you want. That would be a very easy way to brush it aside during interviews. Especially since you were still in school during the duration.

If you actually did dev work during then it would be valuable experience to add on the Get in Winner This is America US Presidents 4th of July Monster Truck T-Shirt in contrast I will get this plus side. Just don’t mention any of the negative stuff or talk about it too negatively. He’s making it your fault they hired someone who can’t fix their mess when they probably don’t know what the mess is in the first place. Some managers are just terrible and shouldn’t be managers. They have no plan or direction and instead hire people and say sort it out. You probably know what problems they face and what they need to do to solve it. It sounds like they want you to go for whatever reason though, which is a shame but not that uncommon unfortunately. Value yourself and find somewhere else. They don’t know all the problems bc I find new ones everyday. His priorities are wrong bc they wanted me to continue to build new systems onto failing ones. And, the cherry on top was they had no trouble ticket and management system. Google doc/spread sheets were the solution
