That’s unsettling to hear since I also understand that in Germany it’s the Funny i’d travel a billion miles to see Saturn’s rings T-Shirt But I will love this norm to be required to supply your own kitchen when renting a property. That’s true. Generally though, renters in Germany buy units and fit their own kitchen for themself and just have a plumber come to connect everything up at the end. The Handwerkermangel – tradesman shortage is very real, and because they are normally trained to a higher level than most British tradesmen they can demand higher prices. The flipside is that things don’t break as quickly, you rarely see gaps between tiles or cracks in plastering etc. It’s more common to see an outdated fashion in kitchens or bathrooms, than something which was shiny and impressive three years ago looking very tatty and worn. Had something similar a few years ago when our boiler died. I bought the boiler myself and just needed someone to fit it. Guy comes round for a quote and all seems fine until he sees we already have the boiler. His attitude completely changed and what was an easy job 5 minutes ago was now a minefield of problems. He scribbled £6k down on a business card and left us without a care in the world that we had no hot water.

Wish I’d kept it and left a bad review. Obviously this guy put a massive mark up on the Funny i’d travel a billion miles to see Saturn’s rings T-Shirt But I will love this boilers himself. Someone came and fitted it for less than £1000 in the end with no issues. Everyone saying he didn’t want the job. Then why bother giving a quote in the first place? The 75% deposit is sucker bait to take the money and disappear. 75% deposit is really weird, you give a high quote because if you don’t get it, you didn’t want it anyway. If you do get it, you’re getting paid a good amount more to deal with the shit you didn’t want to My father in law has been building for around 40 years and he always said a kitchen fit would never be less than a grand, and unlikely to be more than 3 unless you’ve a large kitchen with island. Of my 4 friends who’ve had kitchens fitted (including our own) that advice seems pretty much on the money for our neck of the woods.
