It didn’t really feel too bad at first, but then it felt like a hot poker stuck in my leg for a bit, and then a pretty constant sharp pain until we got to the doctor and I got some pain medicine while they removed it and stitched me up. Had an ex gang member coworker that had a metal beam running through his arm because he got hit with a 7.62×39mm (serious hard hitting rifle round). Anyway a couples years after that he was sitting at a restaurant in LA, wrong place and wrong time. Some one fired off rounds indiscriminately from a 22lr revolver a table over and he caught a round in his other arm. Said the 22 (smallest round you can realistically purchase) hurt 10x more. Maybe because he had no adrenaline the second time. One round from an AK in Honduras when he was a teenager (woke up in a hospital) and a small pistol round in his arm 40s. I was hit in the head with a ricochet at a public range, at a relatively short distance, and with a .45 from a 1911. The guy that pulled the trigger had the loaded (round in chamber) pistol in an area you weren’t supposed to handle firearms at all, in-hand with his finger on the trigger. I’d walked in and was just getting my things put down when he turned from the rear of the range (sort of a staging area w/ firearms required to be in their cases) back towards his shooting lane and in the process, let loose a good ol’ negligent discharge. It ricocheted off of the rear wall and then tried to settle down in my forehead.
