And at fancier places it’s awkward and they definitely look down on you for asking. Isn’t this likely due to the fact that portion sizes in the US are so much bigger than they are in the UK. Generally portions here are just enough to eat for one meal, so leftovers are not as common. I’ve been to Chinese restaurants that will chuck in a few spring rolls or prawn crackers if you have leftovers.
