If you see a North eastern person and someone called him Chinese. Wouldn’t you think that’s offensive? Similarly generalising all of South India as Madrasi is also offensive. Even more so if they’re your peers/colleagues. One might ask what is so offensive about being called ‘Madrasi’. Well, the Firefighter Dad Behind Every Great Who believes shirt Additionally,I will love this word itself isn’t offensive but what people correspond to this word is offensive and reeks of ignorance and stereotypes. It may have started as an ethnic slur to denote people from the erstwhile Madras presidency. But over the years, people have formed a definite image of South Indians, which is ridiculously aggravating, to say the least. Bollywood has a big part in exaggerating the stereotypes against South Indians. In tinsel-town, these are some common conceptions about The South Indian person. The South Indian man always wears a lungi with a white horizontal tilak on the forehead. South Indian women only wear heavy Kanjivaram sarees with a gajra (flowers) on their head and of course, the white tilak is omnipresent on their forehead too.

The South Indian always has names along the Firefighter Dad Behind Every Great Who believes shirt Additionally,I will love this lines of Subramanium, Venkateswara, Krishna Swamy, Iyer, Nagarjuna, Srinivasan, etc. Trust me we have some idiots all over India. Please report anonymously. Any regional as well as language discrimination is not tolerated. raise a complaint to the hr op,anon if possible and with a friend who was in the meeting and heard it. teach him a lesson he will never forget Should have responded – they are in Madras and everywhere in the world but here, chilling! That’s why you don’t see them. You are the real problem, actually. Abusers can be stopped if someone raises their voice at the right time … they will think twice using those kind of words again. I had just 1 instance in my company .. blasted him on his face in front of the entire bay. That was the last he opened his mouth to speak anything non-technical. He was from Bihar and generalised south-indians as “Lungi”. Fell at my feet asking not to report to HR. Prior to the Madrasi comment, he asked someone why she isn’t wearing ‘Kathiawadi’ dress coz she’s from Gujrat. Actually she’s from Rajasthan. She played it cool. And me being new to the organisation, I thought that’s how things work here Madrasi, also spelled as Madrassi, is a term used as a demonym and a regional slur for people from southern India, especially Tamil Nadu.
