If you plan ahead this is actually one of the Cactus Jack Look Mom I Can Fly Travis Scott Astroworld shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this stupider moves a company makes and you can certainly exploit it in reverse to come out ahead. As others have commented, you need to get everything in writing with the specifics of when, how much, what has to happen etc. Realistic: The measures need to be realistic and not so high it’ll never happen – look at your previous bosses scorecard I’d also ask for half the promised cash anyway. If they offer you £10k when they “are comfortable”, then say you want £5k in the interim as you also need to “feel comfortable” with the changes, and it shows good faith from their side….and that they aren’t just gonna hire someone else while you cover for free. A subreddit for those who want to end work, are curious about ending work, want to get the most out of a work-free life, want more information on anti-work ideas and want personal help with their own jobs/work-related struggles. There is no protection. It’s sort of a see how you both fit situation. But it sounds like u are being put in as a stop gap as opposed to the guy. Otherwise why not promote you. I’d also do some homework on why the other dude was fired. Get a graduated contract. Determine the final salary they would move you to at the new position. Require 25% for the trial and another 25% in 3 months and by the 6 month mark 100%. It offers protection for both of you. Depending on the industry, the title means more than the pay increase. The title has some value on its own, just not with your current employer. I treat the title value as college tuition. The title is a degree in a sense. At certain points in my career, I took less pay for the title, but this was only due to industry hiring requirements being higher than my education level, but the title nullifies those requirements.

If you need the Cactus Jack Look Mom I Can Fly Travis Scott Astroworld shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this title to advance in another company, the title has more value to you long term than a pay raise. Absolutely not without the pay raise. This is wage theft, refuse the job without the pay and start looking for a new one. As so many other people are suggesting. Get it in writing. Because it’s a leadership role, they may legitimately want to see how you do in that role. But time is money so get it in writing that you want a review at about 3 months (ish) and they can decide and give the official promotion WITH pay increase. Or no deal, they’re just taking advantage at that point. Have a written contract with 4 main things. Have a predetermined pay that you will be paid when they are “comfortable”. A small increase in pay due to the added responsibility. Lastly a maximum time they can withhold the pay increase 2-3months if you’re generous. I’d do 1-2 max. Lastly due to you allowing them to withhold the pay you would normally be getting have a clause that says if you don’t like or can’t do the job you can get your old job back.
